  1. well ive had 5 or 6 pre 94 ax-15's and this is my first external slave one ive run across that i had the chance to buy, i just got really lucky I can't wait till I can get started converting my mj over to 5 speed, sucks I have to wait till i get the 91-98 truck driving first
  2. my truck is already converted to 99 stuff and ive been driving it for years with an auto in it so i have everything else, and i do have the steering column from that jeep just didnt throw it in the pic
  3. I was strolling around craigslist one day and ran across an ad for a 5 speed jeep transmission for 100 bucks so i looked at it, i ended up calling the guy and meeting with him and picked all this up for 200 bucks! I have everything to convert my 88-99 truck that ive been driving over to an ax-15. all these parts came out of a 99 cherokee so i have the correct wiring harness and computer and everything even a hardly used centerforce clutch..
  4. I can't wait till I get a paint job on mine, that looks good. just curious, was the tail lights a personal choice or did you use them because of the newer harness? either way it looks good and its a way to get away from using stock lenses that nobody makes anymore. on your lift, did you do a spring over in the rear or a massive aal? it looks like it sits on a 4" lift in the front and spring over in the rear which I think gives it about 5.5" lift in the rear which gives it kinda the "raked" look, not bad I'm just surprised you have that much clearance in the front with 35's. I had a 88 xj with 35's on it but it had 7.5" lift and tj flares
  5. I was doin a little more research before I went out to the garage and I found out that dodge used the 15 or 22 gallon from 91-99. 2000 and up had a 22 or 24 gallon tank. i believe the older 88-90 had the 15 and 22 as well but don't use the same style pump assembly
  6. your tank is a 22 gallon just like mine, i probably looked at ten of them today and not a single one was the 15 gallon...... I'm getting really frustrated trying to find a 15 gallon tank. i even looked at a 88-90 15 gallon tank (cause its the only one I could find) and it doesnt use the same style of pump assembly. I even had one yard tell me they didnt put a 15g tank in, only 17 and 20 :fs1: I have an xj pump assembly taken apart in the garage cause i robbed the pump and reg. out of it so if I can get my ohm meter to work I will see what I get out of it. I am starting to run out of local places to find a 15 gallon tank so if anybody knows where one is at let me know, maybe I could call the yard its at and just have them ship it to me
  7. anybody find out anything as far as the size of a 15 gallon tank or whether you can use the dodge pump assembly? I have monday off so I'm gonna hit a few salvage yards looking for one to try out. the other day I said I changed the pump and regulator in mine and it didnt seem to help the first few times ive started it, i'm not totally sure on that yet. the past 4 times its been started the truck has started without a problem :hmm:
  8. because I didnt have one and I had 2 xj pump assembly's' Actually I did not do the research on the dakota pump to see if it would work, it would be sweet if it did
  9. the 22 gallon tank will work except the factory jeep fuel pump assembly is not tall enough to reach the bottom of the tank, I had to modify mine to make it taller. I am still having a problem getting fuel at startup, i even went as far as changing the pump and regulator last weekend and it doesnt seem like it helped any.
  10. are you sure thats a 15 gallon tank, it almost looks the same size as my 22 gallon
  11. wow thats taller than the 22 gallon tank, I would have to modify the pump housing more than I did already..
  12. if its no trouble for you, ive got my truck in the garage right now. I'm gonna switch out the pump with a different one and see if that changes anything but knowing the size of the 15 gal would tell me how much different the two tanks are
  13. did you ever measure the height of your 15 gallon tank? the 22 is 13 1/4 to the top of the lip where the pump mounts which is about 3 1/2 inches taller than the pump when compressed.
  14. dude that thing is sick, love it. I'm still looking for a 15 gal dakota tank for mine, the 22 gal still is giving me fits  plus when i put gas in it the tank is so dang long its almost like i didnt put any gas in it at all..
  15. ok, just got off the phone with him and the engine came out of a willys half track, his mechanic built it for his personal use and I guess used it for a while then sold it to this guy and he ran it in a cherokee for a bit but now needs money pretty bad and will sell the engine and a ax-15 with t-case for 800. thats what I got. he is supposed to get ahold of his mechanic and find out for sure, even if I can't buy it I know people that may be interested and would be awesome if its actually what he says it is.
  16. i give up, the biggest amc 6 I can find is the mexican 4.6 and it didnt even come in the 2 1/2 ton trucks and wasnt introduced in the us at all. think I'm going to call the guy and see whats up.
  17. its got me confused too, all i can find online is the 4.6 (282) amc's mexican version, he did say it came in a 2 1/2 ton truck he was wrong in calling it a "comanchee" or comanche as we say it, I'm going to look some more and see what I come up with, did they have a amc 6 in the 70's duece and a half's?

  19. isn't that the same as the climate control? if so I have already tried it I did that because i can do so without buying new parts, I have another jeep with the same parts installed that I know work so I was able to try them without wasting money on new parts that I didnt need.
  20. engine running, climate control off and my ac compressor still cycles and my fan blows on high no matter what, the only thing thats shuts either off is by shutting the key off
  21. seriously almost 50 views and nobody has an idea of what it is? i really need help with this I don't know what else to change
  22. I have another pump assembly that i can put in, the brickwork is finally finished on our house so i might get a chance to pull it in the garage this weekend and try it
  23. ok I know what I have is a "cherokee" problem but technically the part is installed in my mj so it becomes a "mj" problem. in my 88 comanche some of you know that i have the drivetrain and complete interior out of a 99 cherokee in my truck and I have a problem that I cannot figure out, the ac/heater blower will not shut off or switch from level 4 (high) it will not turn off with the blend door switch like its supposed to when I shut that one off but it will shut off with the key, and my ac compressor continues to cycle even with the switch off, you don't have to tell me to try to change the blower resistor or the climate control or blower relay or even the ac clutch relay because ive tried all of this with no results............ What else is there to change?
  24. I have been working on my house along with my job quite a bit so I havent had time to get on here in a while. anyways since I put the dakota tank in my truck ive had one problem that I can't figure out yet, it works great, I am very happy with the outcome EXCEPT... theres always an exception. when i go to start the truck after it has been off for a few minutes or any amount of time I have to rebuild my fuel pressure because it won't start on the first or sometimes second try. I'm using the same pump i was in the other tank so i don't know what the heck the problem is. its driving me nuts. most of the time after it finally gets started it stutters until it gets enough gas in the line then it runs like a striped a$$ ape....
  25. well I had a day off today so i drove the truck out to the local salvage yard (started out with about 5.5 gallons of gas in the tank) to pick up a ax15 i scored pretty cheap ($200.00 ), anyways i got that done and headed to orielly's to pick up a abs sensor for a pt cruiser and after i left there the truck died about 4 times on the way home, i am going to assume that the culprit is the pump not reaching the bottom of the tank and picking up any gas cause it would start back up just fine when i sat still...... so more modifying  I have an idea on how to mod the pump to make it reach the bottom of the tank, if it works out ill post it. I did bend the float arm to make it read about as accurate as i could and it seems to be right, it showed a 1/4 of a tank when i started, 5.5 gallons in 22 gallon tank is right at a 1/4 I am curious on how tall the 15 gallon tank is from the bottom of the tank to the lip that the pump module sits on, i wonder if the 22 is taller or not
