good to see she is coming along. i can t say that I'm proud of some of the mods intake included but it worked for the time being.... i wish i had more time with her... did you keep the hydro boost? that was i think the best mod i did to her... please note this was my first off road rig. i did so much web searching for free and cheap mod its just crazy.... i used the plate as a cover for the ugly hole under it... cool idea bad execution...lol. i agree that muffler was a bad choice. it was on my list to change but due to orders to ak it never got taken care of... also i did not understand how mech incline my brother in law was... i chose to sell her as she already spent over 10 years sitting in my grandmother in law's barn that i just could not have it happen again... hope to see more pics of the build.

well back story real fast. i ordered the cam kit k68-232-4 for my 87 comanche. i have a renix 4.0 motor. i have the newer style valves. the 5/16" valves. the kit that they sent was for the 3/8" valves. so i called summit to ask if they had some retainers locks and springs that would fit the 5/16". we talked for about 30 min and then he put me on hold and said that he was sending me the locks from mopar. pn P4529218 for free by the way. my question is will it work with the 3/8" retainers pn 744-12 and the springs pn 926-12. thanks for the help

right now it is a full ho block with renix intake and fuel injection with distro from the renix block. the plan is to put the renix head on the ho bottom end with new cam. sorry for the confusion. and thanks for looking. mark

i am going to put the head off the old 87 motor on my new ho block after i get it hot tanked and cleaned at the machine shop. then i will also install the new springs seats and locks that come with my new comp cam. i am going with the same one here.... http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CCA-K68-232-4/ i have read both the comp cam site as well as talked with some local jeep guys and they all say it will wake up the old jeep. hope it all helps i love driving her. if this does not work look out novak hear i come. here is a pic of the old jeep... let me know what ya think... mark

i seafomed it as soon as i put the motor in. it has the distro from the 87 block. i did not want to use the head from the old block becouse it looks like someone dumped a gal of tar in the intake...lol well i will look in to moding the 97 intake. thanks for all the help and hope everyone has a great holiday seasion .

what would it take to make it work. i have read a bit about the tps sensor but that is it. i have all acc from valve cover to oil pan from a tj 4.0. all fron acc as well as intake tb header. what all would i need to make it work. thanks for the help. mark

their was a hole in the block for the knock sensor. everything bolted up no modification was needed for the sensors.

hello everyone, i just installed a 4.0 out of a 1997 i used the intake, front parts, and header from my stock 87 motor. i pulled the old one because of a rod knocking. it still had great compression but the bottom end was trashed. long story short the newish motor feels gutless. it has 88k on it. the old motor was very sluggish and backfired when it was cold. also it would accelerate slowly when i held the throttle steady like it had a surge of power. the 97 motor is the same way but no surge just the sluggish feeling. any ideas on how to fix this. it has new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and a new belt. thanks for the help. mark

i have a 1987 mj with a renix 4.0 and a auto trans. i have a rod knocking so it needs a heart transplant. i picked up a 1997 4.0 out of a wrangler for 250. it has 80k in it. what do i need to do to put it in my jeep. i have looked into using the stock renix head on the ho block but then i hear everyone is converting to the ho head on the renix block. i am wondering what is involved with just keeping the ho head and intake. the motor was complete as well with fuel injectors, rail, ps pump, alt, ac comp, and header. thanks for all the help.

runs and drives. it is a 4x4 4.0L sportruck leather bench seat and column shift. it has 127k on her and in bad need of some reworking of the motor. small surface rust have not checked the floors yet.
