    bought a ranger....

its a solid 93, i haul with it, its great, doesnt leak or burn a drop, shifts perfectly. really nice solid truck, but you can just tell if you floor all over or run it like you stole it, it wouldnt last a week. i drove every jeep i have ever had like that, and they all went for years. jeep earned my respect. i have never met anyone has rough on vehicles as myself. i would drive them cross country with 1000 lbs in the back topped out, hundreds of miles straight at a time, and they wouldnt care. jump them, multiple burnouts daily, offroading, running things over, hauling and towing WAY more than is recommended. driving them up mountains, rally car style racing offroad, mudding, taking them out in blizzards. hitting snow embankments at 50+ until i get bored. hit a curb at 90 once, i mean i could go on for hours about the $#!& i do to my trucks. they needed tires, oil, light bulbs, and pads. there are plenty of solid rangers and other trucks out there, no doubt, and i have driven and owned many of them. i don't waste my money on vehicles that arent solid, but i would never put a ranger up against a jeep.

    danggggggggg

left turn - living in dc near gallaudet university, and being the infinitely curious person i am, i have known several deaf people, and learned asl a while back. i have spent a great deal of time speaking to my share of deaf peoplevia instant messaging over the years. something you will hear from me, but from no one else ever about deaf people since our society is a big fat box of bull$#!& at the moment - asl, and most sign languages, are at best incomplete, and are limited in scope. presently the communication of perspectives and concepts capable in asl are no where near approaching what regular english speakers, and speakers of most languages, are capable of. this leads to most deaf people just straight up not understanding many things when communicating. i spoke at great length with the then vice president of the student body of gallaudet for months regarding this subject as communication and perspective is something that fascinates me. her main focus in life is communication, and the issues i am speaking of now - the vast limitations of asl and other sign languages. there is a reason deaf people remain within the deaf community, for the most part, and most people don't really know anyone deaf - the communication system they have been given is comparatively lacking. asl and other languages are clearly fine for basic communication, but nowhere near the scope of what people with hearing have. this also lends deaf people, from what i have seen, to be somewhat more "doing" oriented when it comes to relationships and socialization, meaning movement and action are more relevant to their lives, so they may show people by doing and acting more than people who can speak, sometimes. anyhow, i am sure much of what i say may be misinterpreted, but you really can't understand what it is like until you are a part of the community, and i can tell you there is nothing stranger than being around large groups of people that you know have no concept of certain things. seeing how hearing people interact with them, and how hearing people who have to deal with deaf people act around deaf people, and how strikingly different it is due to the huge differences in perspective and understanding. fascinating in my opinion, but the reality is ugly, in terms of how inferior the sign languages are, and thus it creates situations no one is ever willing to touch. either you are deaf or you are hearing, and hearing people cannot ever claim asl is inferior, our pc mothering insane society does not allow anyone to do anything like that, and deaf people do not know anything is lacking really, thus the system remains. people who lose their hearing over time or go deaf from an accident, who were speaking as a child and learned to communicate verbally, communicate differently than children who grew up non hearing. the woman i knew lost her hearing as a child, but developed hearing, but lost her hearing completely during her developmental stages, this she sort of walks that line, and has more insight into both than most deaf people. I'm done rambling. it is what it is, and everything changes in time. live and let live.
  6. for anyone out there thinking about it, but not sure, my review is meh a big fat solid meh i have been seriously abusing and commuting in trucks my entire life. full size blazers, new blazers, broncos, tons of jeeps, and lots of cars too. i wouldnt drive this truck offroad a single time as hard as i drove my jeeps almost daily. absolutely no exaggeration. i can feel how cheap it is compared to a jeep. its in great shape, no issues at all, but you can just tell it would turn into a big ball of problems if run hard. its great for cruisin around slowly and light loads, which is all I'm using it for at the moment until i get something i like, but driving this thing i long for my jeeps. i literally put my foot on the floor 90% of the time i drove my jeeps, and they ran like champs and loved it. i have never had vehicles that held up to abuse like my jeeps, i think ill be coming back soon. been on the hunt for the right com for me. the dakota 5.2 is nice, but i think i want a rock solid 4.0 or stroker com with 4x4 2/4-hi/lo auto. i may buy a local com with a blown motor and get a wrecked dakota and throw money at someone here to do the swap. anyone in the dc area interested? i would assist obviously, even have space to do it. just never done it, no fab skills even though i work on stuff for a living.
  7. sold it, getting a 5.2 2nd gen dakota until I find the right longbed Comanche
  8. if everything goes as planned i should have a nice shortbed in my possession over the weekend. won't go into details as the ad is still up and i don't want anyone snatching it up, but its a good deal. i will be looking to swap the bed, and camper cap, taller one, for a long bed and cap, or just long bed, whatever works best. am not concerned with colour or cosmetic condition as long as its solid. the one i am getting has good paint, looks very nice, but have not seen it in person. black. would be willing to trade trucks outright for a longbed auto. 2 or 4, just no 4 all wheel drive. if i find an uglier long bed for a low price i may just throw this one up for sale. will also be looking to swap the buckets for a bench. another reason i might be just reselling or swapping the entire truck either way, looking forward to getting my first mj. long time jeep owner and destroyer, so i am familiar with the brand. no inspection or emissions on a cheap vehicle that only weighs around 3000 lbs but still has a reliable and powerful enough drivetrain is why i want it. lack of a larger cab is annoying, i haul so much stuff its really nice to have interior space. will post pics once i have the truck in my possession. one question the 4.6 v8 in the newer zjs, has anyone put one in a cherokee/comanche? if i was going to find a donor and do a swap and that was just some small fab work, i would ge interested since jeeps of all makes are cheap here wrecked/salvage/no title. great site. thanks
