  1. 1990 Jeep Comanche SportTruck 180k 4.0 / AX15 / 4WD 231 / D30 / D35 / Short Bed / Colorado Red Build date: 4-90 Current Location: Western NC, Watauga County Status: Running and driving well for the most part. Bought it from Inman, SC @179k and drove it ~3 hours back without issue. Steering feels pretty loose/ floaty but drives great for the most part. Intermittent idle climbing in RPMs - 1.5k to 2k at stoplights has been fun. PO said it was a vacuum leak he couldn’t track down. Notes: Found this one for a reasonable price - the bones are rust free, minus both rockers and on rear fender. It was the 4.0 / Manual / 4WD / Short Bed configuration i was searching for to replace my rusted out 2dr XJ. Grey interior in decent shape, bench seat, removed headliner as it was sagging and ripped. Manual windows, AC, radio delete, lol. I’m very happy with how it has held up so far. It does seem to have less “pep” then my 1996 XJ on 33s, maybe the engine is a little worn out or just the difference in non- HO 4.0. I’ve noticed somewhat low oil pressure, not usually going above 40psi. Current owner: Me Work done so far: - Swapped gauges to have full gauges, found a full gauge cluster on eBay within 500miles of the original cluster. - Removed the rear bumper, it was too rusty. - P.O. did the h4 headlight upgrade - Swapped in functioning side mirrors Plans: - Really would like to fix rockers, fenders, dings, dents, and get it repainted. - Found a nice set of turbines w/ center caps that will go with new tires - Have a nice drivers side vent window waiting to go in to replace the current one. It doesn’t close right and wind noise is getting annoying. - Jeep Cables waiting to go in - Cruiser 54 Tips will be a completed soon. Going to clean up all the grounds when battery cables go in. Noticed oil on the air filter, will do tip 26(I think) to combat that. Itching not to build it. I want to keep it stock, for now at least. If you have any tips for a renix first timer, please let me know.
