  1. This is how it started This is how it is now, rear is a 8.25 chrystler out of a xj with a s10 bastard pack. I have all the original drivetrain out and a 4.6 stroker, aw4 auto and 231 out of my old Harlan jeep is going in for making it go. The front suspension will be the modified unibody rails from a 01 xj and a D30 and a set of long arms. Should be around 6in of lift and 33's when done. Here's the drivetrain and 01 xj I'm using as a unibody donor.
  2. Yea those are MJ cab vents as hood louvers, and I'll see if I can get back up there and get some pics of the tailight install. I'm the nut and bolt guy, he's the body man so I've not been back up in a couple days. Been busy on my lifted Eagle project.
  3. I sold a buddy a Mj 2 weeks ago and I've been helping him restore it since it came off the trailer...UHHGG Lots of long day's and nights. It was already lifted and I swapped xj axles into it years ago. It was wheeled hard for years and beat on every corner, wiring was a mess, and the guy I bought it back off of finished off the motor... The mj is now all 96 model xj drivetrain and wiring harness, with a automatic instead of the sloppy peugot. The doors, fenders, nose, seats and console is all 99xj The only thing getting changed on the bed is modding in the 99xj tailights to update the bed like the rest of the truck... Trying to finish the truck in a month, should be ok...
  4. I just used some shelving material, I cut a piece of cardboard to fit. Then I cut the metal patches, and started on the bedside with small sheet metal screws and worked my way around the back bending it as I went.
  5. The club just set a date for Harlan in April so I gotta dig the mj out of the brush and finish what I didn't do last year. I did put a 4.6 stroker in it in the spring and did some hill in the hole racing with it... Jumps great... This winter I'm gonna put a full cage in, racing seats, move the radiator to rear and put a 8274 warn winch were the radiator is, front locker and tube doors.
  6. The MJ did great at Harlan, I wasn't sure at first but by the end of the weekend I loved the 112in wheelbase. I didn't brake anything but the rockers took some damage and I had a fuel delivery gremlin that kept popping up.
  7. Well I've had some victory and some stuff I couldn't get done, but I'm leaving for Harlan in the morning so it's done for now. I didn't get the half doors done but there close, and I didn't get a winch because a set of Q buckshots popped up for sell that I wanted worse and couldn't afford both. I'll post pics when I get back here's some pics of shake down yard wheeling
  8. Got the rollbar in, bad pulley and trackbar changed, front bumper done, all the welding and painting done and the CB installed. Battery's are dead in the camera or I'd have got some pics.. :D
  9. Finished up all the lights and wiring, hoodpins, air cleaner and some tube bracing to support the rear of the bedsides.
  10. Finished the gas tank mount, battery box and tire carrier. Harlan is less than three weeks away... :D
  11. A little greasy but it'll clean up. :D The good thing about oil everywhere, is it keeps the rust at bay....
  12. Very nice work, I really wanna do a late model conversion one day....
  13. Didn't get much done this weekend but mowing and weedeating, but I did get all the jeeps fired up and moved around front so I could mow around the garage. It was good to see them all lined up and running at the same time.... The little red 2dr is my wifes mud racer, 4in lift and 4.6 stroker, The teal one is are trail rig on 35 Wranglers, The little red 4dr is 2wd with a 355 SBC and then there's the mj I'm building now..
  14. It finally leaves the garage, but 2 weeks wasn't bad for changing everything in the jeep, plus mods.... :D Still gotta build a winch bumper, front shocks, tube doors and shorten the rear driveshaft.
  15. I got all the wiring done, drivetrain in, battery and gas tank in but no runny, runny. I got a fuel delivery problem, no fuel on the rail. I got a new fuel pump in yesterday but that wasn't it, so I'm picking up a new regulator today. Hope to drive it out of the garage this week...
  16. Nothing really picture worthy has happened in the last few day's. Been working on wiring, the gas tank, mounting the battery in the bed and installed the HO motor and trans.
  17. Fixed the floors yesterday and got the carpet back in, the 94 column and the auto shifter and cables in. Gonna be 79 degree's today so I'm taking the day off and heading for the woods. Time to go beat on the xj a little and have some fun..
  18. Wow that's a long pull from WI, this will be my first trip. We went down last month on a pre trip and to check stuff out, but we didn't get much time on the trail. I did see enough to know I wanted to put something alittle more capable/expendable together... :D
  19. Very nice MJ, I wish I had the money to build one right. I also wish I had the will power to keep it out of the mud, brush, rocks and tree's.
  20. No he's not messing with you, look right below were the exhaust manifold bolts to the down pipe. Take it out hot and put it in cold so you have a better chance of not stripping out the threads. Buy a good one too and not a cheap unifit.
  21. Nice looking mj, I wish mine was a AW4 already. I know alot of people love a 5 spd but in the woods the aw4 is awsome. Might wanna check the vin for tampering, xj/mj vins are mounted in the plastic dash and real easy to pop the rivets out and back in. I think there's a build date by the pass side front brake line bracket.
  22. I will, It's all coming out today so I can swap all the HO wiring from the 94xj into it. It all seems to be in great shape, carpet looks good. Seat has no rips or tears, the headliner board is there but the felt is gone.
  23. 8 inches, here's a pic that kinda shows better, and got the axle flopped back under with a xj AAL.
  24. I just have a grinder/cutoff wheel and a sawsall and I got about 8 hrs in it. It takes longer to measure it all out than to cut.
  25. Dang, the spring over in the rear gave me way to much lift.. :( I guess I'll try a 3 in xj AAL and a longer shackle. I've done 2 of these before and I've never seen this much lift. Does anyone know if the front coils are longer on an mj too, cause the one's I took off this mj is the same diameter but 1 1/2 longer than a set of stock xj's I had laying around?
