  1. Hi all, first time posting on this site. I want to convert my Comanche to Mercedes om617/auto. I bought the Mercedes engine/trans assembly already bolted together. After researching options it looks the easiest and cheapest option is to remove the 2.5/auto and install the Mercedes diesel and auto. The Comanche will be used to haul tools and equipment to job sites. Airbags for the rear, bed cover/camper top and a pull out tool tray in the bed will be used. Kit to install Dakota oil pan to allow engine to sit low instead of installing suspension lift as Comanche will be used primarily on the street and I prefer a low center of gravity. Anyone ever use the Mercedes auto in a Jeep?
  2. Resurrecting a 1987 Laredo 2.5 with 88k that’s been in storage for about 13 years. Brakes: 1. Rebuilt front calipers. 2. New front flex lines. 3. Clean and pack front rotor hub bearings and new seals. 4. New master cylinder. 5. New flexible line between chassis and rear end. 6. New rear brake cylinders. 7. Flush steel brake lines with solvent and dry with compressed air. 8. Bleed brakes. Next is fuel system.
  3. Hi, I have a 1987 Comanche 2.5 with automatic that will shift manually by moving the shifter but not automatically. Does anyone know what causes this?
  4. Hi, I have a 1987 2.5 Comanche long bed with a automatic. The transmission only changes gears by manually moving the shifter. What could be the cause of this problem?
