  1. Hi! I need help with the pedal. I changed the master cylinder and noticed the pedal sits too low. Inspecting the old master found that about an inch was added to the push rod, and the pedal seems to be welded too.. My question is, can I use the old push rod? Will the added inch of travel affect the new master? Or, do I need to reweld the pedal? Maybe somebody has a clutch pedal's picture so I can see how it is supposed to be. :???: Thanks!!
  2. What do yo mean the motor isn't a guarantee? I bought it because for what he told me: 4 cyl 5 speed. And I thought 4 cyl + 5 speed = 4.11 ratio. Mine has a "Dakota" axle in the rear, and is 3.55.
  3. Thanks! The title says it is a 89, and the guy told me it was a 4 cyl 5 speed, but the axle ratio is 3.55. He doesn't have the drivetrain anymore. Is there a way I can know which gearbox came with it? Maybe I copied wrong those digits, here is the picture of the VIN:
  4. Hi! Can somebody run a VIN for me? I bought the rear half of this truck and need all the info I can get about it.... The VIN is: 1J7FT26EXKL607411. Is a 89 Base Comanche. Thank you!
  5. Well, I took out the fuel sender and pump, found that the inside pump's wire had become loose, put a little solder in it, no more dying while braking hard since! Also, cleaned every connector at the engine bay and ECU, ground refresh and cleaned the throttle body. Now it runs smooth and gained a little more power. Thank you all for the help!!
  6. Thanks! I will test it, the ECU is used, everything in it seems to be ok. But the dying problem came after I changed the fuel tank, sender and pump.
  7. Recently I made some changes to my Manche, first I changed the ECU to a newer one, changed O2 sensor, and changed fuel tank, fuel sender and fuel pump, I took them from a 89 Comanche that was parked since one year. I think the fuel pump was stuck 'cause it didn't throw fuel until someone sucked at the tube. After all these updates when I brake hard, in a emergency or at a stop, the Jeep just dies after a take my foot off the pedal, sometimes it runs for a second or two and then dies. I have to crank it two or three times before it starts again. Can someone tell me what things should I check to solve this problem?
  8. It was manual. Mine is a '87 2.5 5 speed, the other was a '89 2.5 5 speed.
  9. I have a 87 2.5, today I found a 89 2.5. I grabbed the ECU. The question is: Are there any difference between the 87 ECU and the 89 ECU? Is it just plug and play? Or will I have any trouble?
  10. Well, all I can say I was visiting some friends and found this MJ cut in half. The guy said it had a crack in the block, bed is used as a trailer. Interior is in good shape but covered in dust.
  11. Hi everyone! Replaced the clutch a week ago: slave cylinder, presure plate, disc, and had the flywheel surface machined. Has a very firm pedal and everything works fine, but today I noticed a strange "Ticking" noise coming from below the engine. It stops when I depress the clutch pedal just a little. Someone experimented this problem? Could it cause any damage? (Sorry for my english, i'm working on it )
  12. Found another! Breaking Bad Season 2 Episode 10
  13. Hey guys! Three weeks ago my steering pump started to do a low noise like it was low on fluid I put some in it but the sound didn't stop. Past weekend it started to do it louder, but only when it was hot, so I though it was time to change fluid. I pulled the reseviour and  there was a nut inside it! How could it be? :???: It fits perfectly inside the return line! So, I think made its way to the pump, 'cause the pump its making a louder noise even if it is cold. My mechanic said it can be rebuilt, but we don't know if the nut damaged something else inside the pump, so, it maybe will be too expensive. In my country is very difficult to find Jeep parts, but I saw a 4.0L Cherokee in a junk yard, and I was thinking, will a 4.0L steering pump fit my 2.5? What is involved in doing that?
  14. 1JTHW6417HT184997 1987 Jeep Comanche Base 2WD (Image: will upload later) 2.5L 4 Cylinder, AX-5, 8.25", SWB Build Date: June 16, 1987 Current Location: Santa Ana, El Salvador (Central America) Status: Drivable, DD. Awaiting for a paint job. 349820 KM. Notes: Well, was my grandpa's truck until he could no longer drive, so I took it and started driving. He replaced the original D35 with a 8.25 that came from a Dodge (don't know which model, don't now gear ratio). It's a canadian model, for what I can see it was involved in a big crash, and someone brought it to El Salvador. Has a very worn bench seat, black interior, idiot lights, lot of rust, white exterior. Current Owner: Frank Martinez (Me)

  16. Hi! Where can I find a E-Brake cable? The one that goes from the pedal to the equalizer? My MJ it's a short bed and didn't came with one. I can't find one in my country, so, my only option is buy it from internet or find one near Virginia where my uncle lives.
  17. Hi! :waving: I live in El Salvador and I don't know how to get info about my Comanche. Maybe someone can help me. Its a '87 Base Model, 207,369 miles, VIN: 1JTHW6417HT184997.
  18. well, first post here but i have a lot of time reading this forum. i have a '87 base comanche 2.5 i4, the problem is: i changed the water pump and made brake booster upgrade, the truck sat for about 5 days 'cause is a little hard to find parts for comanches where i live. when i start it, it make a sound like explosions that come near the throttle body. when i parked it everything was ok. i checke plugs, rotor, cables, vacuum lines. maybe somebody can help me, i don't know what's happening. :???: pd: sorry for my english, i'll try to improve it..
