  1. I have just purchased the Sniper 2 Barrel, engine management, and distributor. I am modifying the manifold as we speak. I can give you the numbers when I get back to Salem.

  4. I have attempted to solve this backfire issue. Changed sensors, had a garage index the distributor, nothing has worked! I am done with this Renix system. I have a 0630 head, 1995 exhaust manifold, and 1999 inlet manifold. I am thinking about modifying the inlet manifold to accept the Sniper EFI 2 barrel, Sniper Management, and Distributor. My thinking is to strip our all the Renix and run with the Sniper EFI. What challenges will I have to face?
  5. Can I swap heads and put a 0630 head on with the later 1999 intake manifold in my 1989 MJ? If I am correct, would need a 1992 or later A/C bracket and 1992 or later steering pump assembly? I have had so many electrical problems with the Renix that I am thinking about putting on the 0630 head, 1999 inlet manifold, and exhaust header. I have a Sniper EFI 2 Barrel, Sniper engine management, and Sniper distributor. I can take the inlet manifold and fabricate it to mount the EFI. Can anyone see any challenges in going down this path?
  6. I have a 1989 MJ. Rebuilt the engine. Now 9.4 to 1, Stage 2 cam, 58 mm TB, Pacesetter Header, 19 lb 4-hole injectors, and ported & polished head. At Idle, runs great and sounds even better through Thrush muffler. Accelerate and it backfires through TB?? Any one out there has a clue what to do?
  7. Thanks everyone. I was using a Fire Power Distributor and I think that was the problem. I bought a stock distributor and new coil. I will install them after the holidays and hope that cures the backfire. Again, thanks for your replies.
  8. I have a 1989 jeep Comanche 4.0 which I have rebuilt the engine. It now has a slightly higher compression ratio, TBA bored to 58mm, Cold Air, and a Competition Cam. I have replaced the fuel filter, done the later open coolant system, and now it runs but when you get up to any speed it backfires? Anyone have any suggestions?
