  1. Hello long time no talk. I fired up my 87 2.5L for the first time this year after sitting for the winter and noticed that the volt gauge is reading 8 volts to 10 ish volts. It does fluctuate while driving. Checked the battery while running with a multimeter and the multimeter reads 14.50 volts while the gauge on the truck says 8 to 10 volts. Any ideas of what could be causing this? Or just not worry about it if the alternator is charging.
  2. Thank you for the advice. I did clean up the connections on that plug. Then thought it was the high beam switch not making connection. So I got under the dash and instantly found the connector for the high beans wasn't plugged in at all. Plugged it in and at least the headlights and high beams work. I would like a diagram for installing a headlight switch relay.
  3. Hey everyone, haven't posted on here for while. I am attempting to diagnose no head lights/brights. While disconnecting the plug the red wire broke off from corrosion, which i have heard these plugs are bad for that. Is that red wire my problem for at least no headlights? If so why doesn't it look like it connects to anything in that plug? I have a parts truck I can cut this plug off or should I get a pack of new connectors and re do both side of the plug? As far no cluster lights i have no idea what to start looking for All the running lights work and turn signals work. Thank you
  4. Hey anyone that can help, I have a parts MJ that I removed the rear windowshield for my other MJ that had the rear windowshield smashed. Now putting that windshield into the other truck can anyone tell me if the rear windowshield is held in with urethane or something called butyl tape? I am no body guy or glass guy this is my first time ever removing and installing a window. My auto body buddy and his dad can't tell me a straight answer. They have said that it's one of those materials though. Also is there any tip or tricks that would would good to know when putting this rear windowshield in the truck?
  5. Hey everyone I know I've posted on here before about the same truck and issue. I have been trying to get an 89 MJ long bed with the 2.5L and only 81k kms running after sitting for many years. When I first got it, it had a busted steering column as if someone tried to steal it at some point. So I swap in an 88 MJ steering column that had command start, I also swapped the Throttle Position Sensor. Just by chance the 89 started right up on it's own tank and original pump. That was last summer and now it hasn't run on it's own since. I've got a brand new tank and pump from my other 87 MJ and a brand new fuel filter under it right now. I've swapped injectors around between the 3 of them. After all this it still only cranks and no start unless it is fed by a bottle of gas directly into the throttle buf instantly dies when it the bottle is taken away. The injector IS getting gas I guess not enough, I'm completely out of ideas now. Any ideas and advice will be appreciated unless someone says just 4.0L swap it then no thank you.
  6. How do I perform the test on the injector? And how do remove the injector if it is bad?
  7. Yes the fuel pump can be heard priming and yes the injector is pulsing.
  8. Hello everyone. I picked up 2 Manches over this past winter to make one running truck. I swapped the steering column and the Throttle Position Sensor from the parts truck to the good truck and got it running, that was a few weekends ago. this weekend put a good battery in that truck and it cranks but won't start. It will run if gas is poured into the throttle through a bottle but as soon as the bottle is taken away the truck dies. There is fuel coming out the injectors. I'm so lost now. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
  9. Hello out there. Back in January I picked up a 1989 2.5L 5spd 2wd long box with 81k kms but at some point someone tried to bust the column and steal it. I have a steering column from a 97 Cherokee. Would it be worth the time to swap columns or should I find parts from a comanche of closer year?
  10. That diagram is perfect I need the pulley attached to that alternator but I have the other pulley. Is there a part number for the pulley I need? Can i buy if separate? Or can I put something behind the pulley I have and space it out?
  11. My truck with the 2.5L is 1987. The pulley on the alternator I got is about 1/2 inch short of being inline with the other accessories. I do not have AC.
  12. Hello out there. Haven't posted for while but I'm stuck with no where else to turn. So back in summer of 2018 buddy told me to get an alternator. So I did. Now over 2 years later I am just realizing I think I got a 4.0L alternator i need one for a 2.5L. Is there a way to modify this alternator to make it work? Is there a separate pulley I can't get? Any help will be greatly appreciated
  13. Sorry didn't have time for an update. So since I last posted I have gotten the new starter installed and now a new alternator as of Saturday. I am waiting for my buddy that has the truck right now to massage me about if he got it running with the new alternator.
  14. So me and my buddy's have narrowed it down to the starter. It's out and ready to be returned and a new one ordered. A side question tho, can some one tell me if 235/75/R15 tires fit on stock height?
