  1. So quick question guys...I put new 4 hole injectors in my 88 mj and now it only seems to crank when the relay is unplugged, it shuts off if i connect it while its running. This ever happen to anyone of you guys or know a remedy? ( yes the reaply connected to the fuel pump and yes the fuel pump is fairly new and so is the filter).
  2. A little backstory, I bought this 88 mj 2 weeks ago running very rough and inconsistent. I jumped online and did some of the preliminary steps by cruiser. cleaned connections etc. So far I have done a tune up, some front end work and fuel injectors... The old fuel injectors were leaking gas bad and I had an inkling that it might be contributing to the truck running so poorly, Initially, after changing to the new 4 hole injectors the truck would not start, no matter what, took out the fuel pump fuse and unplugged the fuel pump connection, the jeep then hesitated but started. and it starts every time I crank it like this although it has a very high, unhealthy sounding idle. If I touch the connection to the fuel pump back together the jeep cuts out and will not start until the connection is taken apart. The fuel pump looks fairly new, but I'm wondering if the previous owner got an after market pump or something. the fuel filter is also new. Any ideas or recommendations?
  3. I ordered some injectors and it's an 88. The idle is getting more stable as it won't cut off anymore like it used to, still runs like garbage, but I'm just counting what good i can at this point
  4. So update....Cylinder 2 fuel injector is dripping petrol ANNNNNNd after putting everything back to the original setup for when I got it with the cold air intake covered in oil....IT started up and ran, but didn't run with the stock air box. Anyway, what a good online spot to buy new 4 hole fuel injectors for mj?
  5. I did my first tune up on the mj since i bought it a few days ago, it ran like $#!& and barely wanted to stay running without me giving it some throttle. I followed cruisers first tips and cleaned connections etc. I was diving into why is runs so rough and something tells me it is the air to the engine. So when i got the jeep it had a specter cold air intake, it was covered in oil and very nasty. I got stock airbox from the junkyard and a filter and hooked it up and now it will not start, the jeep started with the other intake full of oil but the stock air box it will not. It cranks but will not start. Oh and just now I looked and the second fuel injector seems to be leaking gas, as of now and this wasn't happening before. So why would it not crank with a stock airbox but it will ( very rough) with a cold air intake. Oh and i tested it without anything on the throttle body and it also doesn't crank either.
  6. It’s an 88 I forgot to mention
  7. So I am a recent new mj owner as of 2 days ago. I have mostly owned and built xjs from the ground up so most of my experience is with the newer 4.0 and not renix. That being said I have a few questions along with pictures. From the first time I drove this truck, I was told it need new hubs and u joints (axle shaft) and they are ordered. Another big concern I have is the engine idle and operating. It hesitates to start sometimes, and then it idles so poor that the engine almost feels it is going to cut off so I have to add ease into the throttle a little bit to keep it going. once running for a few minutes the engine still runs pretty rough but seems it can manage running on its own. The firing order is correct and the spark plugs seem fine (new cap rotor and plugs are ordered as well). before i start tearing stuff apart do you have guys any recommendations for this issue of a rough start and idle. Other issues include but not limited to: - No overflow bottle and it's an open system so the radiator just has a hole open for the overflow hose - no stock airbox so I need to figure out vacuum leak situation and what goes where - an exhaust leak and an exhaust rattle (looks like metal on metal rattle) -thermostat leaking because the stud on the bottom is stripped and the housing can't goes in all the way. -odometer doesn't work (says 240k) other than that the frame is solid with no rust, some subframe rust but not to bad. The steering is decent and the suspension seems fine. So my question is buying a vehicle this old with multiple owners etc and multiple issues what should be the first areas I should focus on? And Any renix advice would be appreciated:). Oh, and the truck was only 800$ and I got to drive it home. mj10.HEIC mj9.HEIC mj8.HEIC mj7.HEIC mj6.HEIC mj5.HEIC mj4.HEIC mj3.HEIC mj2.HEIC mj1.HEIC
