I think my only counter argument for those two points is that itll widen the wheel wells and give the tires some more room, as well as giving me a better approach angle. But then I realized I don't do anything that requires any of those nearly enough to justify it so I put the fenders on craigslist haha

I agree with your less is more sentiment. Minus the comanche emblems and a flagstaff sticker on my truck I want it to stay nice and minimal for that "stock" look. Another reason ive decided not to use the fender flares lol.

my old MJ had a 3" lift with 31" mud terrrains. Those were the biggest I could fit without cutting. That being said they still did rub a tiiiiny bit every now and then so maybe that helps you going forward.

When I say wheel I mostly mean goin out to the desert and camping with friends. I'm gonna try to keep the wheeling light until the Arizona pinstriping tears all the clear coat off or i accidentally drop it on a rock or something lol

I kind of wanted to run 32's or 33's without lifting it any more than it already is, mostly because if I lift it an more Ill probably need to do leaf over axle and I don't have the time nor the money for it right now haha. I figured maybe the fender flares would help and give some space for some 32's but I think Ill keep it as it is with the 31's right now. Its not like I'm rock crawling with this truck after all, just some weekend camping :)

is Lucas Oil Stabilizer worth it?
Deleted replied to Deleted's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Nevermind, Just read this forum and it seems to have all the info I wanted and more, this dude really put some time into it. https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/rotella-worlds-first-ever-combined-hair-oil-foot-ointment-salad-dressing-188168/ -
I was curious if I should add some oil stabilizer on my next oil change. Does anyone have some experience with the stuff? Will it lower or increase my oil pressure? As it is right now I don't burn any oil (at least not a noticeable amount) but I will be taking a 600 mile trip next month and I was curious if it will help keep temps down and keep it more lubricated at higher rpms (about 4000rpm goin 70mph is my guess, tacho doesnt work so I'm not 100%) for a good chunk of time.

I have some bushwacker fender flares that came with my truck when I bought it but I am hesitant to put them on. For one I like the stock look the original fenders have, and two I'm afraid of chopping off perfectly good metal. I do think the fenders would look good though, and itll give the tires some more room when I'm wheeling. What do you guys think? Survey Says: I will not be using the fenders! Myself (as well as the majority of people who commented on this) think its a bad idea, so if anyone wants some bushwacker fender flares you know where to find me :)

1986 Jeep Comanche "Graham Cracker" 4.0 High Output I6 / AX15 transmission / NP231 t-case / Front Axle is a Dana 30, Rear Axle is a Dana 35 Build date: 3/19/86 Current Location: Chandler, Arizona Status: Daily Driver and weekend rig Notes: This is my second Jeep Comanche. I foolishly traded my old one for a Honda Accord in an attempt to get better gas mileage and have regretted my decision ever since. Which brings us to today. Body and Chassis are the 86 Comanche MJ, literally everything else is out of a 1996 Cherokee XJ. Over 10k in this truck and it runs strong. 4.5 inch lift (not spring over axle) sitting on 31's. Long bed with a JCR steel bumper and historic plates. Original 10 slot grill with an all black/tan interior, american racing wheels, and the underside is bedlined to prevent rust/debris damage. Hood has hood pins instead of a latch, and theres an electric fan installed. The paint job is Maaco but its the most expensive package so here's to hoping it will last more than 2 years. Current owner: Me myself and I
