I have an 88 comanchie, 4.0 with auto trans that does not up shift, i have to do it manually, any idea's someone mentioned it could be the T.P.S. (throttle positioning sensor) never the less i brought it to a transmission shop and the guy there tells me he has worked on it for 2 hours and cannot tell me what is wrong with it, 1st it was the TPS, then he said I have no power going to the tranny, then he tells me it could be the computer or some other type of sensor. Yet now i owe this guy $100.00 diagnosis fee and he can't tell me what the problem is so i am taking it off him today. can any one help or sugest a good tranny shop in the West Roxbury, Mass Area? I have an 88MJ 4.0 Automatic and just recently the tranny started acting weird. when i put it in drive it seems like it is in permanent high gear ( the engine seems to labor to get it moving, it is not slipping.) If i manually shift it down i get plenty of pulling power, but the i have to manually shift it through the gears and it works fine!! Any ideas what my problem could be??
