  1. Hey all. I recentely bought a "non-running" 4.0, SWB, 4x4, 5 speed, 88 Comanche and I was PROUD! The person I bought it from said it was in need of an engine. I get it home and with-in 2 hours, It was running perfectly. I have since been driving it around as a daily driver. A few weeks ago, I start my small resto project on it. the cab and front clip is rust and dent free. The grill is perfect. the bed only has minimul damage. I picked up a tail light and a new bed light harness. I have fixied a couple of other small problems and still excited about the build. Suspension time. I have started with a 4.5" front lift with some 3/4" spacers, adjustable track bar, fixed LCA's, etc and got all that rapped up. Just yesterday I took the bed off and was going to do a SOA. No problems. Tonight i, for some reason, wanted to do some interior work. I took the crap seat out and pulled the NASTY carpet out and there it was. Drivers side floor has rust. All the way through and not pretty. Passanger side rusted through as well but not as bad. My spirits dropped. I don't know how to fix all of this. Do I wanna fix this? I am stumped. What do i need to do? Part it out and what not and keep my lift for something else, or embark on a rebuild i don't know if i can finish. Please help with opinions, ideas, and etc. Thank you.
  2. Cool man....Thanks I'd love to put in an 8.8. I don't want to re-gear (not knowing what I'm running now) unless I can find a matching ratio. Wonder what else would be needed for that?
  3. Well that would be nice but I don't want to spend anymore money. I can do all with existing stuff. I have a add a leaf and shackle for the rear or I can SOA. Which of these should I do? I also have some pucks to go with the 4.5" springs for the front if needed. THanks
  4. I am re-starting my 88 Comanche build. I can post the progress in the build-up place if anyone is interest. My question is, I'm doing a 4" or so lift. I already have enough stuff to to a Add A Leaf/Shackle lift in the rear. I am not opposed to the SOA though because I am an experienced welder with a welder. Which way do I need to go? What do I need to come up with (besides perches) for the SOA. Any help, ideas, opinions would be great......Thanks
  5. yep thats what I'm looking for.
  6. hey all.....I am new to Comanches. I just recentally bought a 88 short bed, 4x4, 5spd, 6cyl and love it. Its not pretty now but a little work and walla! My thing is, I want a snugtop, bed topper, whatever ya call them. I like the cherokees but wanted a truck. I like the idea of the topper because i can add a roof rack and keep cargo dry. I can take the topper off for larger things. I would love to see some pictures so i can see what I am actually wanting to do. I don't know if itll be goofy or not......hahaha thanks for any help, pics, advice.
  7. OK. i found a comanche in a local salvage yard!!!!!!!! WOOHOO
  8. ok. in tracing down the brake and blinker problem, I found that someone half way tried to install a trailer light plug. All the wires and lamp plugs was taped, broken, burnt, corroded, and nasty in several places  . Will the xj harness form the 92 work as a donor? Come on guys help me out, yall been at this a lot longer than I (about 2 weeks) :waving: :help: :help:
  9. well started swapping it in last night. seems to wire up correctly. all plugs are the same. The MJ does not have CC and the donor does. The wiring still looks the same. the issue now is it seems to ba about an inch shorter. the brackets all bolt up right but the slave which goes from firewall to steering box will not reach. lacks about 1". i wired it all up but no change really. still no blinkers, horn sometimes, no brake lights but does start. HUMMMMMM. Oh yeah, the reason of this thread was the multi switch was all busted up. They said that was the reason why i didnt have brake lights, blinkers, hazzards, horn, high/low beam switch, or wipers. still at ground zero!
  10. I have a 88 Comanche and the steering column is busted. I have a 92 Cherokee that has been wrecked. I know some yesars interchange. Will these steering columns swap? THanks for any and all help. New to all the Comanche stuff and I'm sure ill have more questions.
