  1. Thanks guys, I checked the transmission mount, and while it looks like the rubber is separating a bit, the noise doesn't seem to be coming from there. I combed over the entire exhaust while the truck was running and again found nothing. Next I'll check the motor mounts - where exactly are they located?
  2. I have a mean rattle from the transmission (I think) in my 87' 2.5L 4WD. Sounds like a couple of screws in a blender. The sound is present at all times, but if I let the truck idle, then rev up the motor, the sound dissapears just before it returns to idle...then comes back. Replaced the entire clutch assembly a couple years ago, including the throwout bearing, and did the internal slave earlier this summer (for the third time). Truck shifts and drives great, except there is a heavy hum/vibration in the dash when decelerating - not sure if that is related. Tranny fluid was almost a quart low when I checked/ refilled today. I have basically ruled out exhaust rattle. Help me Obi Wan Kenobi...
  3. No O2 sensor on my truck, it's just got a bolt that plugs the hole. You answered my question - The thread size was what I needed. Thanks.
  4. Just finished overhauling my exhaust, and everything is back together - except that I couldn't extract (I'm assuming) the O2 sensor plug from the old front exhaust pipe. Does anyone happen to know the dimensions and thread size of that bolt? It's an 87'. Thanks!
  5. You guys are awesome, thanks. I've used this forum for reference during many projects and just joined up yesterday. Tooled around a bit today, and the clutch is still good. MJ junkie, I hope you're right about my mechanic not properly bleeding the system. That's the best case scenario. CF, appreciate it. I have been wondering about a conversion to an external slave since the second one went. I've got a very classy junkyard nearby and next time, (which seems to be inevitable) I'll look into going that route. Hopefully by that time I'll have another whip and be able to shelve this girl for an extended tuneup. It is pretty funny how they @#$% all the $#!& words on this forum. Cheers
  6. I had my mechanic replace the slave cylinder in my 87 about a month ago. I noticed trouble getting into reverse about a week ago, but wrote it off as my imagination. Got in the truck to run some errands today and couldn't get it into gear. No leaks anywhere, and the reservior level hasn't dropped since I got it back from the shop. I Bled the clutch hydraulic system and pushed a ton of air before I got straight fluid. Clutch works great now. My question is - did the guy just do a $#!& job bleeding it after he finished the work or what? If so, why would it take three weeks of driving for before I had any trouble shifting? - and.. what else could cause me to get air in the lines? Like I said, I don't have any leaks, and I haven't run the reservior dry. Not sure If this is relevant, but this is the third time I've had the slave replaced, (the trucks only got 72,000 on it). Got a different mechanic to do the latest job.
