I replaced my o2 sensor about 9-10 months before this started happening, are they notorious for going out? How long is an o2 sensor good for?

Hey everybody, new guy with a couple questions.. I bought my 88 2.5L SporTruck about 2 years ago and the last 5 months it has been sitting. When I fire her up it idle's fine until it warms up then will chug itself to death. If I try to get on it, it falls on it's face and will occasionally backfire. Seems like it's flooding itself out when it comes to temp, what could cause this problem? Any help is appreciated!
