  1. My 89 Mj Sportruck, 4spd Quickcrete in the back for a little better traction on snow and ice, doesnt help much it tires are 30% tread maybe. (can see better in other diff. pic). Rattle canned wheels black, doesnt look to bad. 2.5L 4 banger. new Battery, Valve cover/gasket, power steering pump, clutch master cylinder, heater valve. Need to do spark plugs and wires soon too, got them just need to do it. Any tips on getting more power out of her, during accel, without smashing the pedal, cause that doesnt really help, lol. new front/rear shocks, coil springs. friend bedlined some of the underneath, like that axle, thats why its black. Tires are pretty low tread, hoping to get 235/75/R15's when money permits. The're cracked around the edge of the tread line you can see, all 4 tires are like that. new rapter exhaust from o'riely's More pics: exhaust with tip. tip was one i picked up from laying around the shop. Question: My mom bf used to work on cars all the tip, and still does a little when his back permits, but he told me i should get a tip that bends to the ground or away from my axle, cause the exhaust heat will mess up the bearings inside. How true is that statement? I wanna get a whole new exhaust system, motor to rear, soon hopefully with income tax, cause right now it sounds like a souped uop lawn mower, lol, but would trade her for to much of anything. After you work on something to get it running, and to pass inspection, feels really good to drive it, its yours, blood sweat got poured into it, lol wanna replace instrument cluster with gauges, saw a few post on that sway, just gotta get one that'll fit. gas gauge doesn't work right, as u can see, its a bit past the full mark. when its full it goes all the way over to the screw that's on the fuel gauge. how would i go about getting to the sending unit? would i need to drop the tank? Parking break doesnt work, i think a cable underneath has rotted away so there's nothing locking it. idk, better if it was in the air for a pic. gonna have some questions about my radio, ill prolly start a new thread, or just keep it in here. the 4x4 conversion, is on hole till i get new tires, to see it that'll help. I probably will want 4x4 sometime in the future, but for now it'll be the gas saver of mine. is there a line supposed to be hooked up the the purge part of this? the top tube tip thanks for an advice/ help on all parts of this post
  2. ok cool. thanks for opinion. gonna get them soon, hopfully with my income tax or even sooner, need whole exhaust/tailpipe replaced. is 60 exhaust and 70 tailpipe = 130+ tax a bad price for that to get made and installed? so i searched for radio wiring stuff, and found some things, but my MJ is, kind-of a Frankenstein of parts. i don't know where the fuse box is from, all MJ 87-90 fuse box diagrams from manuals are not the same, so I don't really know. So what I'm getting to is that none of my wires for radio make sense, if someone could explain a little on how to read a wiring diagram, I'm stumped myself. hahaha. also, can't figure out how to get pics up, like I figured out how to change profile pic, but max size is 50kb, which is pretty small. smallest i can get my phone to take is 51kb, (using a samsung focus II) on top of that, i don't know how to get pics into the my media, so i can post them, if thats what I'm supposed to do. if someone has a good link or some insight on this, that would be great. thanks all.
  3. Those are gonna be some good looking tires. those will be good later down the road. I was looking at these tires from Walmart. here's the link: http://www.walmart.com/ip/4404150 The other link of a walmart tire i was thinking about is: http://www.walmart.com/ip/21607868 read quite a bit of the reviews and i mean theres some good and bad. any opinions anyone about which tires i should get. Personally, i like the fat wrangler tire, but I've been to the store and their not as wide the picture shows but not to bad. I havent seen the dextero's in person so nothing on them. anyway's opinions are appreciated. thanks
  4. cool. yea id definitely like a link, thanks. I'm running 215/75R15 Hankookthe may have been all terrain, but the tread is down to about 30% or so. If i were to get 235/75R15 in the rear, and left the 215's in the front for say a week, just drive it back and forth to work, could any problems occure? search those 31x10.5R15's, those are huge man. good looking tire though. Why would you need to change the speedo gear for a bigger tire? is that needed for 235/75R15's all around? Thanks
  5. Thanks DIrtyJeep for your reply. also got some pics of the 87 MJ. just want some help deciding if the bottom is any good, like everything ill need or if i should try something different. edited: pics didn't show and weren't clickable, co going to upload and post later on today. DirtyJeep101, what size tires do you have on your MJ? I was trying to turn around in some snow last friday, and got stuck, had to have someone come pull me out after an hour of trying to rock back and forth and smooth a path with my hands/little ice scraper. lol. don't want to have to worry about getting stuck as much. Would bigger tires help with that? I have 215/75r15 right now, looking at the glove box 225 is the max.
  6. Just checked ad and the 87 is a 2.5 4cyl.
  7. Idk what motor is in the 87, in my 89, its a 2.5l. I they're both short bed 4 spd manuals. i don't know the gear ratios or any of the other little numbers I see in most people's post, unfortunately. And what do you mean less desirable?, are manual trannys not good in MJ's, do they go bad quicker? Would it be easier(less man hours and $$) to switch my 89 4spd to an auto with 4x4? Personally I like having a manual, keeps me busy, since I don't have a radio, but would be I guess, more convenient to have an automatic.
  8. Alright everyone, got some questions. A little info on the 87 from the ad, it doesn't run, picture makes it seem like its stuck in the ground from 4x4 in mud the left and ground hardened. No pictures on the motor, but doesn't run for unknown reasons till further notice. So... First off is, will an 87 MJ 4x4 be able to get put onto my 89 MJ? Let Let me be a bit more clear, I want to know if my 89 MJ Sportruck, be able to just bolt on the 4x4 parts from an 87 MJ (Idk which model the 87 is)? Second, is the parts fo convert without much if any mods, what parts would I need to keep from having to purchase the whole truck? Or would it be more beneficial for me to just get the whole truck for whatever parts? Third, does the 87 MJ described, seem worth 1k? On my phone more so no pics, if need can put up later. Thanks for all and any help on this, I've search 4wd conversion but couldn't really find anything that really played to my questions besides some parts.
