First post...
I m surprised to see how hard it is to find a clean Comanche... I used to have blue Laredo, 4WD manual 4.0, I believe it was an 87 or 88, bought new. It was a great truck which we used for a number of construction projects down in the islands and in typical jeep fashion it could climb a steep slippery hill fully loaded with gravel, sand or cement bags... Kept it for a few years with little issues except a blown diff.
Fast forward 25 years and since we need a truck, I figure I'd get another Comanche... Well, it s not as easy at it seems down here in Miami! The usual sites like eBay, autotrader, etc...only turn up a handful, either 1000 miles away or 2WD or with the smaller engines. Or all of the above. Most of those on Craig's list are is bad shape or heavily modified into off roaders
We looked at one a couple of weeks ago, which had a little more rust that I want but drove pretty well until it started misfiring, seller claims it needs a cap and rotor, I suspect old gas or bad filter/pump... Waiting for him to get it to run well enough to buy it and drive it home.
Why do I want a comanche? Not just for old time sake... I like the looks and styling, rides pretty well and you don't see too many on the road. I guess I like driving something a little different: Currently have an Alfa Romeo spider (1987) and a Jaguar E-type V12 (1972), so a ranger or f150 won't do :)
