  1. The only time we have to smog our vehicles in Crescent City is when its being sold. There isnt any yearly smog testing, which is nice. I don't care about any smog issues, the truck won't pass smog how it is right now and its in my dads name so I'm still ok since hes going to keep it in his name for me. There are lots of "pointy heads" out here who have made it almost impossible to ride motorcycles, 4x4 anywhere without getting in trouble. My dad is a land surveyor and he said that about 80% of the land he is government land; Federal and State parks for the damn trees. I say log them.
  2. Alright thanks for the advice, I actually just found a 4.2 with carb and other parts so I think I'm going to try to swap out the 2.8 for the 4.2L. The engine I'm getting is free so hopefully it isn't a painful experience.
  3. Hey has anyone done a 4.2 to 2.8 swap in a 1986 4x4 Jeep comanche with the 5 spd tranny? Any help would be great, my friend said he'd give me the engine with carb for free and hopefully I could take advantage of this opportunity without too many modifications to the firewall. any advice or thinks to look for would be great. thanks, frankthetank07
  4. Hey everyone. I'm new to the site so first off hello. I have an 86 Jeep Comanche with the 2.8L and 287,XXX miles, a 5speed tranny, and 4X4. I was looking around to rebuild it and came across the 2.8 to 3.1 stroker kit by ARI and I was wondering if anyone knew how if it was worth the price, I have the link below. I don't plan on any tires bigger than 32 or 33s and I need it to drive back to college by the end of august. Some of the hills are a big struggle for the truck right now and I can only make it in 3rd gear on most of the climbs. Costs and Gas Mileage are my biggest concern and any help would be great. http://www.engine-parts.com/GMV6/gmv6ps1.html Thanks, frankthetank07
