  1. it's the 4.0. my 'obvious' is that the auto tranny shifts nicely, minimal leaks along the drive train and that the thing runs like expected and the color is a dark green :) hahaha
  2. anything I should be giving a stern look at besides the obvious? Thing of it is, this cherokee has almost 175,000 miles on it, a Rubicon Express 3.5" lift, 31" tires and the guy I talked to said he put the lift on himself. Just wanna get some of your ideas on what I should be concerned about with this many miles on the vehicle. I just want a vehicle to be reliable enough for me until I go in to the Navy next Feb/March. I'm hoping this is the ticket. Thanks fellers Kyle
  3. thanks for all your suggestions fellas. I started reading them and just decided that, hey... I got an extra steering column in the shed, I might as well just throw that in and see what happens. So in she went and so far so good. Lost my ability to have a tilt column, but oh well.
  4. Well I've come in to a problem and when it comes to electrical dealings with vehicles I'm a complete retard. here's the story... I have a 4.0L in my 87 Comanche (swapped a '91 HO motor out of a wrecked Cherokee fyi) and lately it has been having a problem starting. [Also, the key is stuck in the ignition and won't come out.] I would turn the key, the usual lights would come on, i could hear the EFI but the starter wouldn't kick at all. So I replaced the starter with an old one I had lying around in my spare parts shed and bought a brand new starter selanoid and installed everything. Went to the girlfriend's house last night with no problems, went to school this morning and heard a new ticking sound from the column and this sound that reminds me of an empty spray paint can rattling around which sounds like its coming from right around the starter somewhere. It's very faint, and road noise and the hum from my swampers drowns it out while on the road. Well anyway, I am driving home from school and the engine just turns off. I still have power to everything, I just start it right back up and keep going. Get in to my neighborhood and it does it again. Start it up and drive in to my driveway and it dies right as i hit the driveway. I have no clue what can be causing this. any suggestions?
  5. So I see some guys here completely swapped the dash and what not from 97+ XJ's. The whole dash thing is a little out of my league I'm thinkin, but I was curious about the 97-01 center console - what would it take for that newer style center console to bolt in to an 87 Comanche? Is it even possible with the old style dash and where the two meet?
  6. yessir Laredo interior from the Cherokee parts I confiscated. That teraflex spacer is 2". Originally the spring-over had my butt-end way higher than the front, so I added the spacers one afternoon to try to level things out.
  7. Hello all! Been browsing the boards for a while now, figure I should introduce my ever-lurking self. I'm Kyle from Littleton, Colorado. Full-time college student (senior year yay!) and I own an 87 Comanche. My dad bought it in 88 and it was my first vehicle. I've owned two Grand Cherokees, a 4Runner and a Civic all while doing work to my truck. It started as a 2x4 and since then we've put in four wheel drive, RE suspension lift, 33's, bought a wrecked '91 Cherokee and stole its HO engine, front d30, t-case, tilt steering column, door panels, center console and bucket seats. Here's a few pics... don't mind the rust hahahaha, there's many-a-project upcoming this summer.
