ok so motor mounts? it looks like there is two sets of holes on the frame that they can be bolted to but do I need to move them or not in the link that 87warrior put up there is a pic that shows the mounts and mine look to be in the same spot. but I am not sure if that is right or not. any info on this guys?

I my have overlooked this in the builds that I have read but do I need to use the gas pedal from my donor or the one that was in my truck?
-
ok so I need to find a 97+ Dakota tank, pump/sending unit and ill be good to go. so does anyone have any info on the doors?
-
I have read that and in there it has the pic of the ring but it does not say where he got it or if he made it

ok so I am moving forward on this and have picked up a 98 Xj. there are a few questions that I have before I start pulling parts and one is the fuel pump/sending unit. I seen somewhere on here that I can cut a hole in my gas tank to drop in the 98 pump using some ring but can't seem to find the ring anywhere. the other is my mj has crank windows and I am not sure if I can use them with the new dash any info o these would be great. Thanks

A renix harness and ecu around here are few and far between that's why I am looking at the obd2 set up but not really wanting to change the dash. I kinda like the factory one that's in it. and would like to do the swap just don't know if I half to take all of the donor parts or what
-
right now I am running a 2.5l and nit a 4.0 Should have put that in there.

looking at doing a 97+ motor swap. I have searched on here and a bunch of other forums and it seems like everyone that has done this is also swapping out the dash and what not too. I am wondering if anyone has done the swap and kept the older dash. I know that none of the gauges from my 88 would work but could I just use some aftermarket ones and still make the truck run? Any info or help on this would be great, Thanks

I am looking for a flexplate for a 88 mj with a 2.5l auto. let me know what you have thanks

so after checking a few different part stores and getting the same # for a flexplate can anyone tell me the center hole size and a measurement across the crank bolts?
-
Hay Biotex do you happen to know the part# for that flywheel you got there do ya. I called pioneer tranny today to get a part # from them and the new # they gave me the center hole where it bolts to the crank looks to be a lot bigger that the one in the pic. did the crank size change from year to year?
-
NO the truck has a 5 speed in it now. the flex plate that I got is for a 88 jeep mj with the 2.5 but it doesn't look anything like the one you have in the pic. could it be an autozone mess up with there system?
-
I checked the part# for flywheels from 86 to 91 xjs and they all use the same one. the auto tranny and the ax5/ba-10 that is in the truck now have the cut out for the cps so I would guess that there should be some kind of ring or notched on the flywheel for it to read. I could be wrong cause I don't have much experience with the 2.5l. hopefully some one can shed some light on this so I can get the truck back on the road soon

With on luck finding a 4.0 xj around here that is in my price range I started looking at other things and found an auto tranny for my 2.5l. the tranny from what I can tell its a 30rh not the best tranny but the truck doesn't get off the road other that getting a load of wood. Anyway I got a flywheel for it and after looking at it there is no ring on it for the cps to read. Am I missing something or is the flywheel not the right one? I have not started removing the old tranny from the truck yet. so any info on this would be great. Thanks

ok thanks for the info on this so far. the repinning of the harnes shouldnt be a big deal as long as i can find the pin outs for both (Its what i did to put the mpi on my cj) the other thing is finding a donner in my area that i can afford. does anyone know what all problems would i run in to using a zj as a donner?
-
well i am not wanting to change all the dash and heater box stuff so it looks like i need to find a pre 97 xj then. going that way i should be able to keep the factory dash and gauges right?
-
I have done some searches and none of what i find are useing the obdII system from a 97+ xj. I also read that the fire wall was changed in 87 mj and no fire wall mods are needed As far as radiator i would be using the support from the donnor and building a drive shaft is no big deal.

Hi new to the fourm and my 88 lwb mj. It has the 2.5l in it now but its been ran hard and the ax5 is starting to make some noise. I am wanting to swap in a 4.0l ,aw4 setup. I am wondering if you guys can give me some info and insite on what all would i half to change if i went with a motor and trans from a 97+ xj. I have been told that i would need to change the hole dash and heater setup to do it. Is there any truth to this? Any help or info would be great Thanks Ben
