I've made my own parking spot at work now. There's this area of uneven ground level with nothing but rocks and grass throughout. None of those little sedans will even attempt to park there. Since then, no new dents.

I'm pretty sure the rims came from the local Rent-A-Wheel store. About 90% of the people around here who have custom rims get them from there. I still think it's moronic to put 35" rims on a Cutlass without doing any proper modification to the suspension. Well, if they didn't do it the moronic way, I wouldn't have a good laugh everytime I see them take 3-4 attempts to make a U-turn.

Calling all 2" budget lift MJ's - Shock ?
GosaGT1988 replied to moparmatt's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Where did you find a 2" lift kit for the front? I'm looking to do the exact same thing. -
Well, right now I'm at factory ride height. I've replaced the stock wheels and tires with 15" wheels and 235/75R15 tires. I need about two inches in the front to give me a little bit better clearance when I hit the bumps as well as making the sit even. I noticed the link you gave me didn't carry that size just for the front. Do you know anywhere else?

I have a 1990 Jeep Comanche Pioneer 4.0L Automatic 2WD SWB, I'm looking to raise the rear end about three to four inches and raise the front end to match level. Where can I find a suspension kit and if I were to raise my tail end three inches, how much would I have to raise the front end to match level?

Need help replacing the blinker switch
GosaGT1988 replied to BuddyOverland's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
If your talking about the wiring harness that goes into the steering column, it should just seperate like any other wiring harness. It's right there above the gas/brake pedal. I have to do the same thing here in about a week when I get my paycheck. Somebody put a 1985 XJ steering column in my 1990 MJ. The wiring setup isn't even close to the same. Because they did this I'm having several lighting problems. -
I always have that same luck. I'll park a good 40 yards from anyone else in the parking lot and some moron will park right next to me and somehow manage to hit my vehicle. I was at Wal-Mart about six months ago when I had my Taurus and some guy with a hoopdie on some way oversized chrome rims backed into a spot and hit my rear bumper as I was walking towards my car to leave. He didn't have insurance so I told him give me the money in your pocket and I won't call the cops. I walked away that night with $400 cash. Sweet revenge!!!

Some people are just jerks while others are complete morons. Every single vehicle I have ever owned has had the front left fender damaged in a parking lot when I wasn't anywhere near the vehicle. The really crappy part about all this, I would have rather had them hit the front left fender, at least I can get an unlimited supply of those, beds for my truck in my area are harder to come by.

Turn Signal Electrical Problem... HELP!!!
GosaGT1988 replied to GosaGT1988's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I did not know that until this afternoon when I got up under there to test the brake light switch. That's when I decided to go see if I could find a steering column from a '90 MJ or '90 XJ. No luck on the MJ but found two '90 XJs. By the way, what would it take to add cruise control to my MJ? -
Looks great. I'm in the process of fixing the front end of mine right now, it's not in that bad of shape but still needs some work. A quick, easy cosmetic fix is take some enamel paint, some 600 grit sandpaper and sand down the whole grill assembly as well as the plastic pieces for the headlights and just do a couple of light coats. I'll post some pics of mine, it made a world of difference on the look.

Turn Signal Electrical Problem... HELP!!!
GosaGT1988 replied to GosaGT1988's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Sorry about that, they are in good shape. I went ahead and sprayed them clean, greased them up and put the bulbs in. The front turn signals did work at first but as soon as we solved some of the problems with the rear lights, they stopped working. Yes it has taken some time but it's a whole lot cheaper. The previous owner put a steering column from an '85 XJ in there. I found one in the local car yard from a '90 XJ which will have the exact same color codes and everything for $50.00. The way it's looking right now, the problem is very possibly the turn signal switch. I'll definitely keep you updated. -
Trust me, there are no stupid questions here. We're here to help. Heck, even I was wondering what that was when I first got my 1990 MJ.

Turn Signal Electrical Problem... HELP!!!
GosaGT1988 replied to GosaGT1988's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Alright, update. I got the rear left and right turn signals working. Emergency flashers on the rear work as well as the rear running lights. Instrument cluster lights are working again. I still don't have reverse lights or brake lights. I check the brake light switch and that has voltage. I still need to check the reverse light switch but don't know where it is. My front turn signals don't work at all however. Headlights work and front running lights work fine. -
Turn Signal Electrical Problem... HELP!!!
GosaGT1988 replied to GosaGT1988's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Took the voltmeter to the rear lighting harness and there's a good possibility that's where my short is. Quite possibly need to replace the harness itself. Have to look around and see if I can find one, preferably new. -
I haven't had my Comanche more than a few weeks and some jerk off already put a nice size dent in the passenger side of the bed!!! How much for one of those FLAMETHROWER SECURITY SYSTEMS???

Turn Signal Electrical Problem... HELP!!!
GosaGT1988 replied to GosaGT1988's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Okay, I finally got some time to work on the electrical problems. I checked out that black cable, it went into the firewall but was connected to absolutely nothing on the opposite end. There was a grey wire with a black stripe at the taillight harness that was cut so I reconnected those. Brake lights still don't work, emergency flashers stopped working, left turn signal still doesn't work but whenever I use my right turn signal the emergency flasher does not go off which is one problem fixed. Now my instrument panel light fuse keeps blowing. I replaced every single one of the bulbs today, new headlights and boy what a difference it all made. I was so frustrated at the electrical problem I went ahead a repainted my grill and the trim pieces for the headlights and everything black, I'll post some pictures later. Anyways, I just can't seem to figure out the problem. I'm doing everything I can to avoid an electrical shop. Please help! :dunno: -
Upgrading to the Eliminator
GosaGT1988 replied to GosaGT1988's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Oh, okay. So pretty much the only difference in the trims were just that, trim differences. I was thinking there may be a performance difference, etc. Thanks a bunch for the information. By the way, where can I find a roll bar for my SWB? I don't really want to do any extreme modification, I'm a modest wrench. I just always loved the look of a roll bar in the bed with some lights on it. -
I have a 1990 Jeep Comanche Pioneer 4.0L 2WD Automatic, what would it take to upgrade to the Eliminator package?

What was the difference between the SporTruck and the Pioneer?

I ran a diagnostic machine on my battery, that was the problem. It had an open cell. Replaced the battery (still under 3 year warranty) for FREE!!! HAHAHA!!! Thanks.

I need to replace all the bulbs for my exterior lights. i.e. Headlights, taillights, etc. Which bulbs do I need for a 1990 Jeep Comanche Pioneer 4.0L 2WD Automatic?
-
Whenever I go to start my engine I can tell it wants to start. I turn the key and it'll try and then starts to give up. If I hook up to jump start it, it starts up like it should. I checked the battery and the alternator and both are fine. Could it be something in my electrical system? Maybe the ignition switch/ignition coil?

Will the front and rear bumpers from a Cherokee fit on a 1990 Comanche Pioneer? I found a really sharp set in Pull-N-Save here in Daytona and was wondering.
