  1. Last night on my way home I noticed my rear lights are out. I'm not getting brake or turn signals to register on the rear lights. I'm not very experienced in electrical and am not even sure where to start (other than bulbs, but that would mean every bulb burned out at the same time).
  2. Found out a guy I've been playing hockey with has a shop nearby (wish I had known this before) so I took it over there today and had it up on the lift so I could get some better information only to discover it is worse than originally thought. It is leaking from the transfer case and output shafts front and rear seals.
  3. So I walk out the Manche today to find the diff fluid is leaking from the front. It has basically leaked out all the diff fluid. I am new to this, so I have done some research here and on some other sites to figure out my options. I also spoke to a mechanic here in town. His recommendation, to my best understanding, was to put a new sleeve on it to seal it. What I have seen searching on a couple of sites and here is the fix for diffs tends to focus around replacing seals. So, now I am left with a problem in that I am still learning my way around and am unsure the best way to determine the leak and or best way to handle fixing it. Obviously an uneducated post, so I may use the wrong words. If I can describe something better inorder to make advice easier, don't feel bad calling me out on it and I'll try to use better terms to describe my issue.
  4. Thats the setup I have as well.
  5. The digital clock in the panel on my MJ is toast. Aside from the obvious options of leaving it there dead or getting a functional one from a part out and preplacing it... anyone do anything interesting, fun, or better with that slot in the dash? Just curious and looking for good upgrade ideas.
  6. Thank you for the additional clarification, I was getting mixed information between here and elsewhere but you certainly are more convincing and you are right, that photo should have answered my question. Sounds like I'll be sticking with the stock wheels, now I just have to pick out my tires. [quote name="EagleYou have already been shown that 31x10.50s will fit the stock suspension. They will ... with stock 15x7 Jeep rims. They WILL rub the lower control arms at full steering lock ... so will 30x9.50s. You either adjust the steering stops' date=' or live with it. Backspacing on the Jeep rims is 5-1/4". There are NO aftermarket 15x8 rims that offer that backspacing. If you use aftermarket rims, the tires WILL extend farther out from the vehicle centerline. This is a problem. On the stock rims, 31x10.50s will tuck up (just barely) inside the stock flares when the front suspension is compressed. If you use rims with less backspacing (even 15x7), the tires will hit the flares and rip them apart in short order. This will continue to be the case even after lifting, BTW, unless you extend the bump stops. That solves the problem of hitting the flares -- but you lose suspension travel, so what's the point? In the rear, 31x10.50s will fit on Jeep rims and will tuck inside the flares. They ride VERY close to the frame, and when the suspension gets twisted up you see marks where the top of the tire rubs the inside of the wheelwell. A bit less backspacing would help that, but then you're back to hitting the flares. Running 30x9.50s gains an extra half inch of clearance there. I just ran the 31s and accepted the occasional rubbing. It didn't seem to hurt anything.[/quote]
  7. I'm planning on doing a 3-4.5 inch lift at some point in the not to distant future but am at a point where I have to replace my tire now... so I am trying to figure out the biggest tire I can fit under my stock suspension so it won't look too goofy when I lift it and can't afford new tires yet because I just did tires in October. From what I am gathering here I should be able to do a 30 inch tire with minimal issue. Maybe a 31? What about width... do I need to stick to the 9.5 width or can I manage a 10.5. I'm not sure what I'll do rim wise. Right now I have two sets of Jeep 15X7 rims, but I'm considering going to a 15X8 (or other recommendation) to accomadate larger tires down the road. If I change out the rims, what kind of backspacing should I be targeting? Also, any recommendations on sites to buy from?
  8. Great input with that diagram, much appreciated.
  9. Nice, I should be in the market in the near future, hit me up a PM with your shops info if you ship. I've started out priceing what it will take to do a 3 or 4.5 lift and what all parts I'll need so I can figure out a time table for making purchases.
  10. Didn't work out as a prototype? I am in the process of trying to figure out what lift to do and 3 inch was high on my list as well. Going SOA just requires to much (cost) on the front end for a primarily beach truck that will only see some light trails. Everything I'm seeing seems to be in the 4.5 to 6.5 range and I've been surprised at the lack of a 3 inch setup being available (with exception of the aal, which isn't my favorite option).
  11. Yeah, I'd read that one but since he had specified that he was looking for a 'factory' one, I didn't want to high jack his thread to talk about the aftermarket ones I am looking at. I appreciate the input, though, on the S-10 one. I had heard different things like that old ranger ones fit and that old S-10's fit and even had someone tell me old Toyota ones fit, but unless all those beds are nearly identical, and they might be, I wouldn't think it would be as easy as nearly any older model long bed tonneau would work... though maybe it is that simple.
  12. I am looking at getting a Tonneau cover for my '90 Manche (Long Bed) and was looking for some input. What I am noticing is that not a lot of the covers specify compatability with the Comanche (being out production, thats not surprising). None of the flip covers I've found do, but I've found some standard rollup ones and a couple tilt up ones that are listed as Comanche specific. So my first question is, is the Comanche bed essentially identical/compatable with any other model/brand that is more commonly found on the compatability chars for Tonneau covers? and has anyone used or is familar with the following Tonneau cover that I am thinking about picking up: http://www.truckaddons.com/Catalog/subp ... -cover.htm
