  1. Would that mean i can't go into 2wheel drive? <=/
  2. yes, the light comes on, the truck thinks its in 4x4
  3. Hey I got in a front end axident a little while ago, and just finished fixing the body/4x4. I put a new vacuum bottle and lines on my truck, as well as the front axle shift motor (off of a 89 pioneer). At the same time i drained the differential and refilled it. The 4x4 still won't work, and when i shift into 4x4 high, it seems to even lose the rear limited slip, and i get stuck even easier. I'm thinking i must have not lined the shift motor up right, so the fork isnt going into the groove, either that or i didnt lubricate the gears inside with grease. If anyone has any idea whats wrong, please help me :cheers: Thanks
  4. Hey, i recently bought a 1989 comanche for parts for my 88, and one of the things I'm taking out and putting in mine is a Brand new aftermarket radiator. I was going to swap it to an open cooling system, but i have no money right now, so I'm just going to put this radiator in and hopefully swap to an open system once i have some cash. This jeep is a 5 speed though, and i have an automatic. ( I would rather have the 5-speed in mine, but don't have the time or know-how to put it in) I guess my question is, how do i install the tranny cooler line? their are quick disconnects on the stock radiator, but this one just has a pipe with nothing, no cover or anything on the pipes. Does anyone know what to do? I was thinking of putting some 3/8ths hose over it and using hose clamps, and cutting off the flex section of the cooler line and somehow attaching the hose to that. Does anyone know a better way? Does one exhist? Thanks in advance
  5. Alright, the fitting where my tranny cooler line meets the radiator in the front left of the engine compartment fell off from my serpentine belt snapping and hitting it. I put it back on, but removed 2 o rings and a strange white plastic thing from the inside. It always leaked a little befor, and i couldnt get it back on with the O rings, after lubricating it with a LOT of tranny fluid. I guess my question is, were those O rings and the white plastic thing supposed to be their? It seems fine now without any of it, and snapped right into place. THanks in advance =P
  6. Alright, i found the problem. Kinda sad that it turned out to be a bad wire next to the fuseable link, that i missed when checking it earlier. This time i pulled frmo further out, and the wire stretched out like an elastic band. I'm glad this fix ended up being so easy. Thank you guys so much for all your help, i was completely out of ideas and was about to give up if it werent for you telling me how to troubleshoot diff components. I'm so glad my jeeps finally running, this kicks @$$. :USAflag:
  7. ALright sounds like a good idea. How do i check the voltage at the fuel pump? I've only checked pressure at the rail.
  8. well ive checked all the fuses, their all good. Ill try the transision from start to run with a plug out and see wut happens when my dad gets home since it needs 2 people and ill check all the wires in the cab for burnouts. Hopefully that solves the problem. :cheers: Poor truck just wants to run :cry:
  9. Yea the fuel pump is running you can hear it. Are you talking the top or bottom part of the distributor? And just start it and put it back to run with one spark plug out?
  10. Alright, my trucks been out of commission for around 3 weeks, and I've tried everything I can think of to fix it, all attempts coming up fruitless. When you turn the key to start, it starts, and when the key goes down to the run position, it dies. If you hold it in start, itll run along with the starter cranking. It will continue to do this as many times as you want to turn the key So far attempting to fix this I've tried jumping the ballast resistor, no change. I checked the ohms on the crankshaft position sensor, 198, almost perfect and easily in the functioning range. I've disconnected the starter solenoid, cleaned the contacts, and reconnected. I changed the ignition switch under the steering column, which changed nothing, ruling that out along with the keyswitch. I checked my ignition coil, its good. I brought my ignition control module to autozone, and they said it was good, though i don't see how a simple multimeter test can acurately say it it can perform all of its functions. I checked pressure in the fuel rail, and it was exactly what it was supposed to be with the key in the start and run position, which i think rules out the fuel system (correct me if I'm wrong). My air filter is good, battery is at 12.57 volts. Power is going to the ignition control module, 12 volts in the yellow wire in the electrical connector with 3 wires, and around 5 volts in the yellow wire in the electrical connector with 2 wire openings, just one with a yellow wire in it. I think ithas to be either the ignition control module or the camshaft position sensor, inside the distributor. I'm 16, just bought the truck around 2 months ago, and have no idea what else to do. If anyone has any ideas about what could be wrong, please let me know. Thanks :cheers:
  11. yea ithas spark after not starting for 3 days, i went last nite and it started then died, Like a fuel filter failure or having water in the gas line. Thinking about draining some fuel from the fuel rail with the engine cranking, and adding dry gas to the tank, seeing what happens. If that doesnt work, ill change the fuel filter. I just changed the fuel filter like a month ago tho, so if that fixes it, time for a new tank <=/
  12. I was driving and it sputtered a little and died. Ive done everything i know how to do, fuel pumps working, fuel rail is pressurized, ignition coils fine, distributor caps good, batterys fine, got spark, but when i took the spark plugs out no smell of gas. For some reason the injectors arent injecting. I doubt theyd all die at the same time, or all get clogged at the same moment. i think something is wrong with the electronics controlling them. Ive been told they are powered by fuseablelinks, not fuse boxes, but i don't know anything about fuseable links or how to tell if their broken. If anyone could help me it would be greatly appreciated. :cheers:
