akadeutsch
Hi I'm Keith. I work for High Octane Performance in Denver Co. We deal in jeeps and old muscle cars. We recently acquired a very CLEAN 1988 MJ. It will be our shop truck, until we get a good offer on it. The pervious owner had started a 4.0 swap but it is not running now. The 4.0 is also an 88. It is bolted up to what I am guessing is an ax15 and it is in the truck with nice new motor and trans mounts. It does turn over...by hand. It has 39 psi fuel pressure at the rail but the fuel pump has to be turned on via a toggle switch under the dash. I would like to get that wired through the ignition switch, but for now I think it will run like this so this is not my first priority. There was two computers laying on the floor of the cab when we picked it up. I can only assume that the one plugged in is for the 4.0 and that the extra was for the old 2.5. I am in the process of indexing the distributor so I can check for spark. I will need to remove what's left of the old harness and figure out where we are at with this thing. It is always tough picking up where someone else left off.Once it is running we plan to hang a Dana 30 up front. After that we will lift it enough to fit 35s. I am new to this site and to the MJ but I have a bit of experience with the 4.0. I recently built a 4.6 stroker for my 2000 WJ. I turned all the wrenches my self for that build and it runs like a stabbed rat so I think I can handle this little truck. I just thought it would be nice to hear what you all thought. I'll post some pictures when I get back to work on Wednesday.
