robsimmons
Hey All! Newbie here. I just picked up my first MJ. I've had a couple Cherokees (XJs?) in the past and loved them. My new toy is an '89 long bed 4X4 with the 4.0 and auto trans. It's got a few issues, but I'm looking forward to digging into it. I have way too many Mopar projects to take on another full fledged project, so I will try very hard NOT to get too involved with this one. Just fix a few small things... (So the story goes... :-) It's got the larger 23.5 gallon tank... I know this because I filled it up and promptly had to syphon over half of it back out due to a nice leak along the pinch weld... :-) Thanks to a search here I found the link to new tanks on Ebay. I'm sure the floor boards are rusted half to death... I'll work up the courage to pull up the carpet soon. The flashers don't work and the left blinker is very slow. I'll check the bulbs and both flashers under the dash. The windshield is cracked pretty good. I'll hit the local Pull-A-Part and see if I can get a Cherokee windshield without too much drama. The tranny seems to work itself too hard by up and down shifting ALL the time. I'll do some searching to see if this is common or been addressed before. It just started idling very high when first started. Another search project. I takes a few seconds of cranking to start every time. Looks like several potential causes I need to investigate. I'll get some pics to post soon...
