What is this sensor?

Title says it all. This is the underside of a 1989 Comanche with the 4.0L I6 and a BA tranny. There is a sensor that is not plugged in to anything, and a wire with two plugs that is coincidentally not plugged in to anything as well. What is it and which wire goes to which terminal? Thanks!

Mine has the same, I may be wrong but I believe its for the reverse lights.

Well from the pics all I can see is that the backup lights are not plugged in on the tranny. The 2 "studs" sticking out of the the trans are the back up light terminals. The plug for the terminals is a round thing with two holes (for the studs). It plugs in upstairs to a 4 prong female plug.

 

You may not even have the plug as I don't see it there. Are your back up lights working?
