Stock rocker arms. I ended up shimming the rockers and that fixed everything. Guess the remanned head was shaved quite a bit -

Then…. I left it running trying to get the antifreeze back in it, drove it forward backward, and putting it back in shop amd it died and wouldnt crank again… which could be me trying to get water burped back in it. -

So. I got it cranked….. had to back the rockers wayyyy off. Its shooting oil 8ft like into air (what a mess). Anyway, i put Vc iver it and cranked, tighten rockers a bit more, cranked, tighten rockers a bit more, cranked, til it wouldnt again then backed off. 🤦🏻♀️😑. The reman head a problem? -
So I have this 88 jeep put together this morn. Prime oil pump. Made sure timing was right. Has a new reman 2868 head on it. won't start- just yun yun… a friend of mine suggested to back of the rockers. I had em at 19ft lbs but he said to back em off til you can just turn the rod. Right now there is no compression. New rings, pistons, wrist pins, rockers, rods, lifters….i mean rebuilt. Any suggestions

So I found two differ gauge clusters for my 88 Automatic. Well the one i got thats full gauge 88 has no PRNDL clip wire. Well neither of em do. Ones differ speedometer cable but one has the right one. My question is…. I read somewhere if cable is not connected it won't drive? Is there a way to modify this….or DO i need the wire to show what gear I'm in? I mean…. Id LIKE to see the gear i am in…. But the one in dummy gauge rusted out and i rigged it…. So i still have to think what gear i am in….. orrrrrrrr does any body want a trade 😁

Soooo…. After rebuilding everything…to put oil pan back I lift the tranny a bit to get OP back in. Well this time my Tranny studs did not go back in the crossmember holes… any suggestions how to line this back up? I tried lifted the tans back up….from front and back to maybe tilt the studs back in…. But alas…. I'm strugglin….

I actually have a full gauge cluster to put in it… but kinda got stumped at the back of it matching with the speedometer and plugs and just said hell with it. I actually snapped the little wire for the PRNDL and jerry rigged it. Right now P is N and D is 2 🤣 but seriously think a new oil pump will fix this issue?

Ok. Ill do that. But yea i thot the oil shooting out like that was insane. But wasnt sure where to go with that….i figured oil pump but it was working fine before. So 🤷🏻♀️

I have always run 15w40. I did not change oil pump just cleaned the pickup. I have no idea how to check oil pressure with idiot gauge. But i thought maybe it could be that, or the filter is severely clogged after cleaning changing, and just need to change it… again.

I do want to mention…. That my oil shoots out my lifters etc like…. 8”. NOT. Just nicely flowing over my rockers.

Ok. Ok ok ok. I have EXCESSIVE OIL BLOWBY. compression was 127-130 across. Friend helped me with this part. Spark plugs looked good and he said compression was great. He did not think rings were problem. There is a knock… which we think maybe a wrist pin because there was no hunks in the pan. Hell, the whole problem may be where my weak lil self had a time inserting or properly bolting the intake/exhaust back on to spec. Which its not. Because, it was 110° in georgia…. And I had a hell of time getting that sh*t back in. That was the only gelluva a time I had. I have read all of cruisers tips. Ive yet to do the oil fil cap… cause I'm on road and not home yet.its definitely blowing out the oil cap…. And air box, and all down my chassis and grrrr. BUT. 88 4.0 6cyc ive replaced lifters, rockers, push rods, rod bearings, main bearings, and cleaned the pcv hose to the point where i have air moving. (What is the part number or whatever i need to replace on the intake?) ive done the valve cover mod only thing is… i watched a video before really seeing where cruiser drilled holes in flutes. My holes are drilled in the side. 🤦🏻♀️ is it rings….. or am I just missing Something. Gawd I hate to think I got to take this apart again. I have pictures of the head… there was only weld marks on the upper part where rockers are screwed in. Can someone just look over these pics and see…. If yall see ANYTHING that I'm missing. I am running 15w40 diesel oil. Gah. Help this is prior to cleaning and modding the valve cover what is the part or link for this end of the pcv thingy.… i scraped and cleaned all of this. I thoughhhht everything looked good here. But can anyone read the lines? Only thing i see are the welds… nothing anywhere else…. And honestly…. Didnt have blowby until AFTER i replaced everything… but bent pushrod was there. Thats why i replaced what i did

I have not done piston rings or valve stem seals. Aggravatingly, in the back of my mind, i feel like thats coming. But compression is great all across 127-130. Which had me thinking rings were good. I take oil cap off and no suction or air coming from oil cap. (Which is where the oil is also coming from). I did the valve cover mod. I still have a knock/tick thing which after everything i have done sounds like maybe a wrist pin. 🤷🏻♀️. Cause no skirts or anything in pan. Does the oil pump have pressure or/is supposed to be regulated? I will say oil shoots out like geysers outta of lifters/rockers. I'm running 15w40 diesel oil. Wondering should i run 10w30 now since i have replaced a bunch of stuff

Anybody have a video or easy read diagram of exactly where the vacuum hoses go…. I put em back watching a video on youtube… now i got excessive blow by…. Which i didnt have before which tells me…. Either pvc… or that video of hoses on a cherokee is NOT correct for my year comanche. And forgive me I'm not good on this hose goes in this part…. I need like actual video or pics.

Just thought I share some before and current pictures of my 88 4x4. So far got the interior done, although one visor can be done a little better. The seat is original and clean so i got a protector over it not to mess it up. The dash was allllll cracked up and found a mint one in JY. Getting ready to sand and rapto line.

Flat piece yes…..Yea i saw sms and emailed, but found one in pretty decent shape. I was thinking about how to go about this headliner… rapto or line with this gator leather i got. can't make up my mind.
