Elwiscon
I really need your help on this one. 1989 Renix 4.0, a few weeks ago I replaced the leaky valve cover gasket along with the water pump and other parts, a few days ago I refilled the coolant and today I cranked the engine a few times to prime the oil pump and noticed some coolant dripping from the front valve cover bolt (over thermostat housing), the OEM bolt was, for some reason, replaced by a previous owner/mechanic with a 1/4-20 bolt which i replaced with a similar bolt, I tightened the bolts in a circular pattern to specs. Did i puncture the water jacket? Anyone else had the same issue? Thanks
Eagle_SX4
If the bolt did go into the water jacket some silicone should solve the issue. Permatex makes some specifically for coolant. Squeeze some into the hole before the bolt. Then tighten the same as the others.

Thanks, i’ll give it a try, hopefully it is a simple effective fix, don’t want to take it all apart again.
