Head liner

Recommended Posts

It's fairly simple but one has to be careful of not bending it and kinking the backing.  The easiest way is to remove the A pillar and B pillar trim as well as the trim above the doors.  I did it with only loosening the A and B pillar trim but needed the assistance of a second person.  There is a piece of Velcro near the center back of the headliner to help keep it in place there, the front is basic held in with the sun visors and sun visor clips.  The other trim holds it in on the sides.

We've done several headliners with a can of headliner adhesive and a couple yards of fleece from the fabric store. We documented the Comanche headliner to some extent here:

Thanks for posting the link to the other thread, I know this repair is in my future:wink:

If I recall, I had a metal clip on the driver side that supported the headliner, while the passenger side rested on the grab handle. There was also a piece of Velcro at the front center, and rear center on top. So it was fully supported before reinstalling the trim and visors.

Mine have usually had the metal clip on both sides. You can see where it attaches. I think it's just there to hole the liner in position until the trim is installed.

If you need to recover it, this might help.
