dastrius
Hey all! Yesterday I decided to attempt to tackle replacing my turn signal switch which was causing some electrical gremlins. Once I replaced the switch and put my steering wheel back on, I noticed the wheel was real wobbly. I do have the tilt column and I'm aware about the 4 etorx bolts at the bottom of the column. I got stuck on I-5 2 hours from home 4 years ago when it was still in my 88 XJ, and tightened those with blue loctite once I made it home. I went to re-check those yesterday and still snug as hell. I thought maybe the bearing in the column was worn and it wasn't snug on the shaft anymore, but after doing some looking, it looks like the tilt (ball?) joint has a lot of play in it, which could be causing my issue. Was curious if anybody else has run into this issue and how they resolved it. Thanks in advance! Link to video of my steering wheel
ghetdjc320
Do you have the spring and lock ring reinstalled on the shaft? Part #8 in this diagram: https://www.steeringcolumnservices.com/gmtilt.php Edit: just saw the video. Looks like the spring is missing. It compresses that joint to keep it stable.
