Steering Wheel Wobble

Recommended Posts

Hey all! Yesterday I decided to attempt to tackle replacing my turn signal switch which was causing some electrical gremlins. Once I replaced the switch and put my steering wheel back on, I noticed the wheel was real wobbly. I do have the tilt column and I'm aware about the 4 etorx bolts at the bottom of the column. I got stuck on I-5 2 hours from home 4 years ago when it was still in my 88 XJ, and tightened those with blue loctite once I made it home. I went to re-check those yesterday and still snug as hell. I thought maybe the bearing in the column was worn and it wasn't snug on the shaft anymore, but after doing some looking, it looks like the tilt (ball?) joint has a lot of play in it, which could be causing my issue. Was curious if anybody else has run into this issue and how they resolved it.

Thanks in advance!
