Pete M
super looking forward to this build. (side note, we've been having random issues with upside down photos but it has to do with how orientation code is saved in different systems and thus beyond our software. I've found that if I alter the pic at all in my laptop and save, it'll load properly if you're using a phone it's more complicated than i can fix them for you as needed.) JeepcoMJ
She cleans up well. Bunch of parts ordered from key parts. this one will be a supercharged series 3 Buick 3800 from a Grand Prix gtp. I didn’t know about key parts until 2 weeks ago. the original will be back on the road because the parts are available. This will be a side by side build. They were there on every 86 I’ve ever owned. Maybe on all MJ’s
Pete M
3 of my longbeds on hand have them (2 are known 86s). 2 don't (one is for sure an 88). none of the shorties have them.
Minuit
Might be one of those weird 86 only things. I've never even seen those before, but I wouldn't even have been looking.
scguy
Very interesting. I'm a big 3800 fan. They're far more efficient than they have any business being. What trans and how are you running the intake plumbing with the TB on the back?

Another step will be to determine what part number starter will be needed or what starter gear to install on the appropriate bellhousing mounted starter. Because the Dakota, Comanche, etc. 60 degree bell has starter on passenger side, bell mounted, and the 3800 has it on driver’s side, engine block mounted…and I don’t want to modify the bell. as far as intake, we’re not there yet. I’d imagine that I will need to find 1 of 2 available Eaton M90’s with a 180 degree intake elbow, or modify/manufacture one to bolt on to the standard equipment.
