Blade Posted August 21, 2021 Share Posted August 21, 2021 1991 Comanche 4.0L automatic column shift, 4X4 long wheelbase, metric ton 36,100 original miles. I have owned six XJ's over the years. This is my first Commanche "I'm so excided!". This Commanchee truck has spent its entire life as a snow plow truck for a school district in Boulder, Colorado. I bought it from an auto dealer here in Southern Colorado with the snow plow still attached. I drove it home it starts, runs and drives good. The body is in rough shape with many dents and scratches, needs lots of cleaning everywhere. I plan on starting on the inside pulling the seat, rubber floor mat, headliner and trim. Fix everything and put it back togather origanal. The glove box was stuffed with 30 years of paperwork including most of the annual emissions reports and origanal window sticker. Deep cleaned the engine compartment, repaired engine oil leaks, valve cover gasket, filter adapter, rear main seal, and oill pan gasket. Removed the snow plow and all of the PO wiring and switches. Blade Posted October 11, 2021 Author Share Posted October 11, 2021 Making progress, finished under the hood and front clip. Fixed or replaced all broken and missing parts. Replaced the front header, left front fender, 8 slot grill, front valance, right and left front inner fenders also installed 1996 Cherokee non break-away mirrors both sides. Blade Posted December 19, 2021 Author Share Posted December 19, 2021 Straitened rear bumper, replaced diamond plate on top, fabricated and added a class 3 receiver hitch. Repaired broken bolts on the rear fender flares and mud flaps. Changed fluids front/rear differential, transfer case, transmission. Upgraded headlight wire harness, H4 ceramic connectors, 30amp relays, 12 guage wire. Started body work, planning on painting original color, PW7 bright white. Blade Posted January 31, 2022 Author Share Posted January 31, 2022 Continuing to work on body panels, it has been a long process. Still have much more to do. Removed the door latches, both latches we're gummed up with dirty dried grease, or what ever lube was used on them. I power washed and soaked them in ATF fluid. And maybe a pic or two of where the interior door brace mounts? I have a set of tow mirrors in want to mount but haven't found good reference photos.
