eaglescout526
Just a bit younger than Chunk by a month. jdog found one a while back that was made in 83.
Pete M
I'm sure a whole bunch were made in 83. but how many have survived? especially 2 drs! I wonder how early is Chrysler's oldest XJ? do they have the first ever? I know they have the first ever minivan, but that was chysler's own baby. AMC would have had to hang on to the first XJ. oh how I wish I was allowed to snap pics in that warehouse where I found the Thunder Chief. my memory just isn't up to the task of hanging on to all I saw. Pete M
I seem to remember they did, buuuuut....
eaglescout526
I often dream that Chrysler did the right thing and kept the first one, or at least AMC doing so with both the first XJ and MJ. I am willing to bet they are either A, in the Romney family or B, somewhere in Chryslers storage.
Pete M
if AMC kept it, then Chrysler kept it. I'd bet money on it. but did AMC keep it? they don't seem to have kept the first MJ.
MADXJ44
Wow that's awsome to finally know. Its is not stock any more but I have owned it for the last 7 years and have gone through every inch of it. Axles freshened and regeared to 4:10s. Borg Warner T5 5speed trans and np207 tcase rebuilt. An I'm finishing up the 2.8L v6 rebuild/refresh should up running down the road by the end of the month.
