yeah it is just really gross. you don't really realize it when its the air but when it's covering every car on the road it just is like wow the air sucked.

But wouldn't that just be ice?

Were getting that white stuff now with single digit lows, ugh looks like sun will be - 6 for a low, highs in the teens to 30s.

But I wish it were warm enough to get rain. This winter thing is kinda BS.

I’ve seen a fair bit of rain at pretty near 0°F. It’s no fun at all. Turns all the roads into curling rinks. Perfect dimpled surface, no traction at all. You’ll be driving down the highway at 10mph fighting not to slide down the camber of the road. If it rains hard enough you’ll get enough ice buildup to bring down trees and power lines. Once you’re down to -10°F or so it freezes before it hits, which isn’t great either but at least it doesn’t turn the world into a beautiful death trap.

It hit -39°C here the last couple mornings. -38°F. I don’t think you really get used to it, you just learn to deal. But the snow doesn’t really melt, it just blows off, and you don’t really start seeing the accumulated participates from the air until spring.

We just reached a record cold temperature here of 69 a few weeks ago :roflmao:. It was on the local news. I think it was on the top of a mountain or something. Never seen a drop below 78 at our house or a degree over 88.

holy smokes. I know where I am not ever moving jeez

Some times you have no choice over where you move. It’s where your sent. This is the western most outpost on US soil.
Personally I just learn to enjoy wherever I am for as long as I’m there. Guam is a nice place and has its positive and negatives like anywhere else.

We're on tap to get about 1/4" of ice tonight, followed by 4-6" of snow, followed by another 1/4-1/3" of ice.  Then another ice storm on Saturday.  And another on Tuesday.  Woohoo.

I'll take snow all day, every day.  But forget ice storms.  I'm picking up an extra case of beer on the way home from work tonight, JIC we are sequestered inside the house for the next few days.

The news has been talking about our impending Snowmageddon for the last few days. The Portland Metro area becomes paralyzed when the roads get covered. I get it, we have a combination of terrain and snow usually packs well, but are people so un-self aware that they can't see their limitations? Where's the Rhetorical Question Smiley? Roads already have a covering at my place, near the top of our terrain, rural Northeast of Portland Metro. National Weather Service is predicting anywhere from 2"-12", with periods of sleet freezing rain. Thank God it's supposed to warm up Monday. Last big winter event we had, I shoveled snow on other people's sidewalks 11 days straight for work. I'm too old for that $h1t anymore.

-35 again this morning, which is of course when the municipality decides to evict everyone from the street for snow removal.

The Jeeps fired up just fine as always, but this POS that’s been sitting long enough there’s bare pavement under it, not so much. Two hours to get it going. Yay carburetors. 🙄
