marcial88
Just bought a receiver from a 91 XJ. Unfortunately the seller didn't have the bolts/washers for the hitch. Does anyone know the thread pattern, length and how many to use and do I use washers?

krustyballer16
Actually, to mount thr hitch on your xj you'll need the nut strip for inside the frame...jcr makes them or search xj nut strip. Sorry, forgot about that Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
marcial88
Would this one work? It mentions that its good for XJs but not sure if it will work on MJs. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00QJANNNQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_t1_JV91C4D0B2FX2WH9RD8H?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.jcroffroad.com/product/XJNTSP.html
jdog
Those would work to install the hitch onto the xj Xj hitches don't mount to MJs, krustyballer makes a hitch for the mj if you look in the vendor section he has them there.
krustyballer16
Ooo, ya, an xj hitch won't work on an mj. Thiught you were putting it on an xj. SorryYa. I build mj specific hitchesSent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
Eagle
I think we all wish you had asked before you bought. The XJ hitch mounts to the underside of the "frame" rails, with those nut strips slid in from the back after removing the rear bumper. MJ hitches mount to the sides of the rear frame, using the same mounting points as the bumper mounts.

I'll have to save up to buy krustys hitch for sure. They look well built.

If ordered this week, I'll knock $15 off. That goes for anybody else interested too. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk

Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk I would like to get one if my after market bumper would not interfere with it. You can see the bumper in the pictures of my mj in MJOTM jan21.
