I’ve been missing in action for a while. Some my remember my 89 2wd Slow Build, that’s the one that got away when someone offered me stupid money for it. Well I am back in the MJ world. Picked up an all original body and interior 87 4.0 4x4 auto short bed today. Well at least I have the title and keys. Will be picking it up Saturday. Planning a DD build with a few extras. Truck runs pretty well, needs some love on the interior and paint. I am pretty sure I’ll be doing both floor pans and will need some seat mounts. Body is really straight and seems to be solid except for the floor pans. Electrical is in need of some TLC. Maybe some one can tell me how rare the factory/OEM tilt steering column is?

Welcome back, factory tilt column for a floor shift/manual is the same as a cherokee. A bit harder to find if a column shift. Does not look bad, be sure to add it to the registry and we will get a build sheet. Ps your grill looks upside down

Yep I noticed the grill being upside down also. Column shift auto with tilt. Pretty sure it’s a true Pioneer trim. I’ll get it in the registry.

Well got most of the interior out and not surprised, time for new floor-pans. This one is a little worse than the 89 I did a few years ago. Good news is I haven’t found any other rust through only surface rust. Also having issues with getting it to start without starter fluid. Have begun cruisers list and cleaning all the electrical connections.

Will have to fabricate new seat mounts as two pulled out of the floor and one  of them had to be cut off.

your floors are not immune.  water intrusion can happen to any MJ. :(

well yes I know but for but for what its worth I'm glad it didn't spend it 312k miles in Michigan or something. and the little rust repair I need to do is pretty minimal. i don't think I hve to replace my pans

Floor pans and seat mounting bolts done. No photos: 1. I am not a welder, 2. Most of you have seen this done before. Will get updated picks when I get it all sealed up and floor painted.

this is something I hope to never have to do again, what a royal pain in the a$$.
