eaglescout526
Anyone in the Brooklyn area of NY? I need a part from a dealer that they won't sell to me over the phone for another member on here.

eaglescout526
I forgot about this plan. I ended up getting the part from the dealer. I asked one of my coworkers for help and he use his stern voice to get them to sell it to me.

MiNi Beast
😆 stern was he?
eaglescout526
Lol. He has a naturally stern voice, I was not nearby to witness the phone call made sadly but I am sure he wasn't too stern to come off as being a jerk. But I am sure he probably inquired why they wouldn't sell an old part over the phone though.

jdog
inquiring minds want to know, what was the part?
eaglescout526
Some dealers are really finicky about selling stuff out of state and over the phone. I don't know why. My boss made the same point you did. Course he said(not to the dealer) "If you want to sell an obsolete part, sell it! Otherwise let it sit for another 20 years and hope that a Jeep owner in NY is going to come and ask you for that part." The last drivers side hood hinge. I don't need this part. Another member is doing a full refresh of what ever parts they can get for their MJ's.

eaglescout526
Pretty much. This dealer and another dealer in NY are the only dealers I have ever run into issues with. All the others are more than happy to sell me their old parts.
MiNi Beast
I'll keep that in mind and buy locally.

Manche757
Daeson does a great job finding nos parts. He is not adding any markup for himself. Add something extra if you will so he can fix up the T'bird that is twice as old as he is plus 10 years.
eaglescout526
Hahahaha, that's kind of you, it is true. I do not mark up, you get the part for what I paid for it. But something extra like that is always appreciated so don't feel obligated to do so.
MiNi Beast
So is it me or are there still no NY members?

I have bought a few parts from NY and a Dad voice as I call it is almost always required. Most other dealers are thrilled to still the old stuff. eaglescout526
I am glad I am not the only one who has run into that issue. Must be just a NY thing. But that's funny to read.
JMO413
I think it really comes down to the stupid laws in NY. They have weird laws for out of state sales if I recall correctly.
