Is it normal for a new fuel ballast resistor to smoke? Just installed it thinking it might be the cause of my no start. Disconnecting and reconnecting the CPS sensor, however, did the trick. But the new resistor is smoking. Thanks!

that's a bit disconcerting.  manufacturing defect?  :dunno:

They can get pretty hot. Possible you just had some oil or something on your hands when you installed it and it was just that being baked off?
