Pete M Report post Posted January 19 makes sense. stuffing a big v8 in an MJ will always have compromises and tradeoffs. what levels of hp are you looking for?

Quarterpastgone Report post Posted January 19 After lots of time fitting and lots of bends and cuts i have the exhaust to the last muffler and just have to finish the tail pipe section. So i must be getting older cause i want a deep sounding truck but not a load truck. When i built my SRT-4 i put two 2.5 inch xr1 sportsman mufflers on it in a dual configuration because that is how it was from the factory but with now mufflers on it. was quieter at idle but loader at wot. so i added a muffler before the dual section and found it was deeper and was way more mellow at wot. So here is the exhaust build pictures. This is how i made the bends for the cross member lots of setup time and turns out pretty good. The Y-pipe fully welding and ready to go back in to start the mid section.. Know i am up to date on where i am at on the build, plan to finish the tail section tomorrow and start to get hangers figured out. Working with 304ss has been a learning curve for sure. getting the welder set up, proper gas and wire to MIG with then fitting every v band flange after welding it due to slight warp age has made this process very long and tedious. The y-pipe toke 8 hrs and two tries to get it, the mid section has taken about six. have to cut very slow with the band saw on the pipe and wait for things to cool to minimize warp age on the flanges. As you can see the mufflers are made to be removable if need be to change the sound and tone if i want to or to just repair one. I plan to build straight pipe section to have on had if need be also. Till tomorrow night i hope to have some more progress to show.
kansashogan Report post Posted January 19 That should be plenty. I think I have around 325-350 horses and it is reasonably quick. I have had it to 105 mph and could have went quite a bit more but I figured that was stupid enough.
Quarterpastgone Report post Posted January 19 I just hope so. I plan to build it with enough room for a vortec if i want to add it later just for the fun of it. I like to be different

Quarterpastgone Report post Posted February 3 Not a lot has been done in the last week, been really busy with other things around the house and new model training for work. I did unpack and install my B&M mega shifter and get it installed with the console in the correct location so i don't punch the dash when shifting to park every time. issue i had on my samurai from time to time. Well that made my night after work tonight. Plan to get it out of the shop tomorrow for some better pictures it at right height. That and i need a picture for my PC background. Quarterpastgone Report post Posted February 7 After much research and trying to find a measurement that i took of a 2 door xj for the location of the parking brake lever location. So i went the old fashion rout and just measured and then made the cut for the hole in the floor. Yes i read all the write ups on using the original long front cable but did not want to go that route. That will give me another good pass-thru for wiring later if i don't fill the hole just yet in the cab for the old cable. Know i am going to have to make a front cable and wait for the new transfer case to get here to finish all the shifter locations and mounting. Got the call yesterday so should be a couple weeks till it shows up. Here are some photos of the console installed and all the stuff lined up and working. Know the the dash bezel on it for final fitment. Till next time Yall have fun.
