m0brando
Anyone have a source for new MJ emergency brake cables? Also -- what is involved in replacing them? thanks! Brandon '92 4.0/5spd/4x4
pingpong
Dealership, or try a local auto parts store. Pretty eaasy to replace. Slack tensioner, then remove ball, undo brake drum and remove cable from inside. Patrick

mjeff87
I got 'em at Auto Zone. X2 I got mine @ autismzone too, 'bout $11 each per side. Make sure you specify short/long bed so you get the right ones. Jeff
Bounty Hunter
Got mine at O'Reilly's. They're the same for long/short bed MJ's, it's the single front cable that is longer.
Cabz
don't the 86 MJ's have the longest cable of the bunch? I saw an 86 LWB with the amc 20 rear , the ebrake cable actualy went over the axle and into the brake plate from the rear of the MJ. seems like they would be good to use on some of the higher lifted MJ's
Duner
You can get them at "Autismzone" but get the part numbers off the online store before you go to store - they are usually stocked items but the brain dead that work behind the counter can never find the part number or listing. Second I have popped the end off the main cable twice now in the last six months - apparently this is common to the MJ as everyone I see in the salvage yard has broken cable end. (Is there a solution for this or should I attempt to fit cherokee hand pull brake since I have the bucket seat model plus this would give more control when wheeling?)
