MeanLemons Battery Cables - Picture Request

Recommended Posts

I bought some new battery cables from Mean Lemons and have them all replaced except the cable running from the PDC to the alternator.

Can anyone who has installed new battery cables give me some pictures of how you have the new cable wired? There are a few extra wires down by the alternator that I'm not sure about and I'm also not sure how to connect it to the PDC

I don't know about Mean Lemons' cables (I used a set from Jon Kelly) but I imagine the terminal lug sizes are correct for the HO. One end goes over the alt output stud of course; the other end connects to the terminal lug at the front of the PDC. It replaces the black existing 8-AWG cable. I left that cable on for backup - just disconnected it at the connector about in the middle of the cable to eliminate the parallel path and tied it back. I routed the new cable using the same path as the original.

On my 97+ it was the single, big black wire with the yellow stripe on the top of the alt (I had to modify it to fit in the black plastic surround thing). I haven't looked enough at a 96- alt to see how different the wiring is but I can't imagine it is much different.

As for connecting to the PDC, it goes on the post under the cover of the end of the PDC.

If nobody responds by tomorrow, I'll reference my 95 XJ to get more concrete info for you.

On a HO MJ, especially with those that has the double stud lug on the PDC. You will need to remove two 60 amp fuses from the PDC, remove the cable from the double stud connection.

And run the new cable from the alternator to the fuse holder, THEN, to the PDC.
