throttle body swap revisit?

ok guys I'm almost done with my supercharger build but i want to find a more compact throttle body to put on the back of my supercharger instead of the big blocky renix throttle body. what can i go get at the junk that will flow the same or more and takes the same IAC and TPS and is a little more compact???

HO throttle body with Renix TPS ... well, same style TPS I converted to the GM 2.8L TPS a while back. Same sensor just a different pinout is all ... and a boat load cheaper. Third picture still has the old renix tps though.

I made the adapter using basic hand tools, hacksaw, files, a hand drill and hand taps. The actuator is a 9/32" (or something like that) socket hacked short and a chunk of Allen Key pressed into a hole I drilled.

ok quick question, i went to the junk yard and got a throttle body from a 98 grand cherokee and I'm getting ready to adapt the TPS. i went to the parts store and saw the price difference between the Auto TPS and the Manual TPS. whats the difference? my truck was originally manual can the auto one be used in place of the manual one??

Yeah, that's the normal solution most take. Of you look you should even have the plug for the auto TPS output already in your engine harness. Last picture is with an Auto TPS.

so i can just get the auto TPS and plug it up and it will work? and i looked and there is an extra plug, i assume its the second plug for the auto TPS? and why the extra connector?

Because the Auto read backwards from the ECM. The Auto TPS is two in one ... One side produces a reducing voltage reading, the other produces a climbing voltage reading. The ECM reads the climbing side and the auto reads the reducing side. So, as a result you have two plug leads on the auto TPS.

The Auto TPS is cheaper as it was more common. I used to run one until I swapped wires for the GM TPS a few years back.

ok makes since, so i can  mount the auto TPS on my throttle body and plug it into the existing connectors and my ecu will read it no problem?

Is the 4.0 throttle body going to flow enough air for a super charger?

Short answer yes. If I remember right the stock remix 4.0 flows less than 380cfm at redline and te throttle body is supposed to be able to flow almost double that. The m90 flows 240cfm at 3000rph and 675cfm at 8000rpm which we all know a stock 4.0 us getting no where near. Also take into account the original engine the supercharger was on is a 3.8l with a smaller throttle body. Now after I drop a stroker in and switch to a m112 or m122 then no ill have to go big bore

Oh hey is the bolt pattern for the renix throttle body the same as 96-00 throttle body?? I found a throttle body spacer that would be perfect to mount my 7th injector fuel rail on if the bolt pattern is the same!

Guys have made flat plate adapters out of a piece of 1/2" aluminum and some correct metric countersunk machine screws.  Nothing fancy, hole saw for the bore, drill bits, a countersink, and a tap to drill and thread the holes.

It would be perfect for adding a single injector fuel rail for my 7th injector and look good

do you have any better photos of how you made the adapter for the TPS? it looks like you took a piece of round metal bar cut a notch in it to fit on the throttle shaft and drilled and tapped a bolt in to catch the TPS arm?
