Stand-Alone MJ/XJ Frame Brace?

Recommended Posts

Anyone make a rail-to-rail frame brace up front that doesn't require a special track bar bracket? Been looking with no joy. The Crusty's and Rugged Ridge frame braces both require a bracket. And no, not looking for a steering box brace.

A removable cross brace that uses existing frame holes and/or frame weld nuts w/o a special bracket being necessary. Sort of like a front cross member behind the bumper and in front of the steering box. I've never seen such an animal. Maybe krustyballer could fab something up??

That's kinda overkill Bo, but well thought out and would be nice for a crawler. But not looking for a steering box brace (already have one), just a bolt-on brace inside the front frame rails if doable that will allow you to keep the stock sway bar.

i have seen one........i goes right behind the lower header panel, but i can't for the life of me remember who made it. I was going to reccomend the boostwerks brace. good security for your steering box. They are pure beef.

I have this one myself and I love it,  is this what you mean?

That might just work. If you don't mount the tow hooks, will it fit behind the plastic air dam w/o cutting or trimming it? It looks like it might in the instruction manual. I'm just looking to tie in the frame rails with a cross member.

It's a smart and necessary thing to do, in my opinion.

I'll take a closer look since mine doesn't have the air dam but the instructions on their site mention you can cut a piece of the air dam to clear the tow hooks so I guess it's safe to assume the cross bar will clear.
