zomeizter
So I am almost done with the acquisition of all components to lift the manche, all I lack is spring perches for the 8.8 to go SOA and some front sway bar discos. I'd love some input with the arms I got from Core 4x4, I went with their tier 3 set and they are sexy and beefy. Is anyone running these, and if so, how great/awful are they? Also, I kinda want to make my own SB discos but would like some ideas, holler.
Crash
With as much lift as you will have, I recommend running control arm drop brackets with short arms.
zomeizter
The Core arms are designed to handle up to 8 inches of lift supposedly, guess we'll see how that pans out in the near future...
cody4359
The more lift you get the steeper the angles will be... drop brackets are about $400 if I recall. I had them on my old xj with 4.5" lift with stock uppers and I don't rember if I had stock lower arms or not. DirtyComanche
The Core arms are designed to handle up to 8 inches of lift supposedly, guess we'll see how that pans out in the near future... It will ride terrible. As you increase lift, the control arm angle gets steeper, which means that the front axle has to travel forwards on compression/will not naturally want to compress. You will feel every little bump in the road, and changing shocks or springs will not do anything to help it.

Unless you buy a kit with arms. I bought my RE drop brakets on amazon for about 160$ IIRC.
cody4359
It's been abut 6 years since I bought mine and going of what I thought I paid. For the short amount of time I had the jeep after the brackets I loved it. Wish I could compare it to my 3 linkni now, but for $160 I wouldn't hesitate to grab a set. MuddFoot
Definitely recommend the drop brackets. I had a xj with 9.5 inches of lift and rode great with drop brackets. Without rode like a dump truck. Sent from my Z981 using Tapatalk

zomeizter
Are there any that suck and I should avoid or any brand will do?
Crash
Most of them are basically the same. I picked up this set. Rubicon Express RE9900 Control Arm Drop Bracket for Jeep XJ https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006GJKBXK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_GiGlzbNPGNEVP Looks like the price is slighty higher at 182$. But free ship. zomeizter
Thanks for the link, I checked it out and noticed that there are some metal braces and a track bar bracket that are usually bought together, do I need those as well?
DirtyComanche
I don't know how well/if the RE9905 support brackets fit the MJ... They might be a waste of time because as I understand it they're just bracing the control arm bracket in a similar fashion to how the MJ already is; that bracing is one of the differences between the XJ and MJ chassis. The RE1665 track bar bracket should be a decent piece, you need the RE1660 track bar to go with it. I'm debating ordering them for my own truck. If you're building an all out wheeling rig they aren't the best setup, but they're a good compromise for driving nicely and weekend warrioring. Crash
The braces for cad brackets won't work. The only exception is the RRO brackets, they make an MJ specific brace that comes with theirs. I have not heard many good reviews of that company, and I know Bo detests them. FWIW, of the people I know that receided product from RRO the quality looked decent. I didn't want to take the risk at the time and the RE brackets are less expensive. I run the RE kit as I posted without braces. One of the better things about the MJ vs XJ is the beefier body side LCA brackets. As far as TB/bracket go. If you do not already have a decent double shear TB I would get one. The RE setup is nice, however the price for the TB setup seems a bit much in comparison to some others. The bracket itself is reasonably priced IMO. Lots of people run IRO setup with zero issues. I have the RE setup with cross brace(no complaints)on my XJ because I got it used for a good price. I also have a spare 1660hd in good shape if you wanted to make a deal on that and buy their bracket. On My MJ I have the synergy trackbar mount and brace with some no name TB. That TB will be changing when I do my axle swap but keeping the existing mount.
zomeizter
Alright, the adjustable track bar I have is branded Rough Country, I'm gonna check and see if I can get a bracket for it or just fab one up. The manche will by no means be a rock crawler, but I want it lifted and will run 31" mudders on steelies for now, maybe 33" rubber later on once I find a boneyard deal front axle with 4.10s. I like driving this thing on the tarmac too (work commute w/cold A/C) so I want it behaving well enough on longer rides, especially the trips to the dunes, approximately 85mi/140km. Keep the tips coming gents, how about some sway bar disconnects, what do y'all run?
DirtyComanche
Is your RC track bar like this? http://www.roughcountry.com/adjustable-track-bar-7572.html Or is it more like this? http://www.roughcountry.com/adjustable-track-bar-1084.html My RC track bar must be an older design, because it is like the WJ one, and uses a heim on one end. It's not exactly like that though. If yours is like the newer one, pictured in the first link, with a tie rod end, it will not work with any aftermarket bracket. About the only thing you might be able to do is measure the thread pitch on the tie rod end and try to find a heim/poly joint/cartridge joint that has the same threads. Typically tie rod threads are bizarre UNEF or even finer threads than that, and nothing matches them. If it's like mine, you should be able to buy any of those aftermarket brackets, and drill them out as needed. I believe the heim they provided uses a 5/8" through bolt. Some cone spacers/misalignment spacers or hardened washers would be needed to take up the slack in the bracket.
