Jeep Starts Then Dies After New PS Pump and Belt

My power steering pump went out on me the other day so I replaced it myself. This was my first time doing this and ended up not putting the pulley back on all the way. I ended up shredding my belt after driving only a few miles. I made it home with no belt then shut it off when I got home. It happened so close to my house that it didn't over heat. It started back up and ran fine when I drove it into my garage, also with no belt. I got the pulley on all the way and put a new belt on it. Now when I go to start the Jeep it runs for 2-3 seconds then dies. Is there any correlation here, or could something else unrelated be going on?

check the fuel pump ballast resistor (3" ceramic thingie on the dr side fender with 2 wires going to it).  the computer puts full power to the pump for startup and then switches power to run through the resistor for regular driving.

I have the same problem. I like you thought it was the ballast resistor. I bypassed it with a jumper and still same problem. I have plenty of fuel pressure AFTER cranking the engine so I know the pump is running while cranking. However I do not hear the pump prime when i first turn on the key. What else do I need to check in the "run" circuit for the fuel pump? Relay? I have refreshed the fuel pump ground and all of crusiers ground refreshing. I installed new fuel filter and fuel pump as well as throwig on a new CPS. I also replaced injectors and fuel pressure regulator about a year ago.  Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Accidentally disconnecting the ballast resistor happens all the time. Replace the crappy stock ballast resistor with the loose spade terminals with one that uses secure stud and nut terminals like the JA701 resistor below from Autozone. Will save you some grief and time down the road.

just the other day I had a relay for the high speed fan in my liberty click to engage and then die immediately.  did this repeatedly and a new relay fixed it.  it's worth it to at least swap the relays around and see.
