desbennett004
Hi Guys, I have a quick question. I am just swapping in an AX15 from a 98 XJ into my 89 MJ which had the 2wd AX15 in it. I've got the Trans bolted in, but I am having trouble with the mount and crossmember. Do you use the mount on the 98 AX15 with the 98 crossmember, or the original 89 crossmember? Is modification required, or is it bolt in? Coz I'm having a hard time getting holes to line up. I did a quick search, couldn't find the answer, and I'd like to get this buttoned up tonight. Strokermjcomanche
There are several sets of holes in the frame , probably hidden by dirt / grease . Being that you're going from 2wd to 4wd you'll want to use the rear set of bolts , before you do I'd clean the 10mmx1.5 threads . Use everything from the 98 XJ and you'll be good . If they aren't, I might just drill them out a bit and use grade 5 bolts and nuts. Sent from my SM-N900W8 using Tapatalk

Do it the right way ,the tap is cheap....

My 2w used the same mount and Xmember as the 4w...........may be something as simple as you have the Xmember turned around. I'd figure this out before you start drilling holes. You can't put the 98 crossmember on backwards with the 98 mount. It only goes on one way. The 89 mount doesn't line up with 98 trans. The rear mounting holes in the frame DO line up perfectly, but they are not tapped. I will be tapping them this week, I don't have access to my tap and die set right now.
