Spydie
So reading around and can't find a straight answer, I want to use my 84+ style grille and header panel (its newer from a 94) and I would like to replace my fenders while I'm at it so, can i use the the newer style 97-01 with the already trimmed front portion of the fender or will it not match up right and should i just use the 84-96 year fenders? Thanks
mikekaz1
you can "make" them work but generally you keep the fenders matched to the header. all or nothing.
Eagle
It won't match up. The tops of the '97+ fenders transition from vertical to horizontal with a smooth radius. The early fenders have a chamfered transition. If you use the early style header with the late-model fenders, you'll need to use some bondo to modify the chamfered corners of the header to a rounder shape that will match the fenders. Airborne Janitor
You're making more work for yourself. The cut you want is easily done with a dremel, sawzall, hell I bet you could use tin snips if you wanted, versus trying to make the fenders work/look good with the 94 header panel. There are also brackets that mate the fenders to the header panel and they are different from the 97+ style so you'll have to figure out how to make those work, not to mention have the brackets themselves.
