omega_rugal
today the CPS gave me the middle finger again, started right up in the morning (cold) drove to work, and a few minutes later it won`t start again (hot this time) so kicked it and went to work. after my shift (nigthtime) starts right up again... whata piece of ... at least i was able to get back home... from what i read, this intermitent "no start when hot" syntom says the CPS it`s dying, i had replaced the cooked wires but the sensor itself is done too so it must be replaced... but why is so difficult to reach from above? the cherokee i was going to trade for my mercury sable had a lot fo space, i was able to reach the CPS sensor easily, on my MJ i can barely tocuh it from below, or XJs have a larger notch? DirtyComanche
It probably has to do more with which transmission you have than anything, and perhaps how the engine is aligned or how bagged out the engine/tranny mounts are. AFAIK the firewalls are all essentially the same (save changes for the steering column and small things) from 87 and on. And yes, a CPS that doesn't work when it warms up is on its way out. But you really need to put a multimeter on it to confirm it. A dying coil can do that too.
mikekaz1
you should try a WJ 4.0 CPS its basically death.
