madog7200
Just wanted to take a poll or whatever and see what all types of shifter knobs everyone has.... i broke mine and am looking for something to replace it with. What I had was a typical TJ shifter so I'm leaning more towards that Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
Hippie66
Mine had this, it would jump out of 3rd on rough roads. Replaced with a cheap one from Walmart.
fiatslug87
Currently have an aluminum Hurst pistol grip on the '88, but I want to modify an early 70's E-body Hurst pistol grip for the MJ someday.
Minuit
Dunno what it's out of, I just found it sitting on the ground in the JY, but it fits the AX-15 shift lever and feels great in the hand. I tried one from the parts store and took it off after about 15 miles. Didn't feel good at all.

Thats very similar to the TJ shifter I had, mine was more upside down teardrop shaped but still just round and it felt great too... i was thinking of going oem but I'm not sure I'll like the feel of the not perfectly round shape? Eagle
I use the TJ shift knob (which was also the OEM knob in my 2000 XJ) and I find it to be very comfortable. It's a huge improvement over the idiotic shift knob Jeep used in the 80s and early 90s XJs and MJs.
airspeed
I made this one out of a piece of cherry. One of those silly projects you spend about 20 hours on. But it keeps me out of the bars...

Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk I have this knob on the NV3550 in my CJ. I personally like this look the most, very OEM look. When I was still running a 4 speed, I had a vintage plastic (bakelite?) 4 speed knob that I really liked. It had a "L" for the granny first gear (T18) instead of a 1. Also love seeing the burgundy interiors!

Rockfrog
Bought the resin skull off ebay, drilled and PL3000'd a 10mm all thread join in place. Really nice feel to it. Thinking of getting it engraved with the shift pattern Sent from my SM-G930W8 using Tapatalk

big66440
Column shifter knob. Don't mean to hijack but, how difficult was the shift indicator installation Hornbrod? did it require any special modifications? thanks. BTW you have a great looking truck.
HOrnbrod
Thank you Sir! The shift indicator is ridiculously easy to install. http://www.ididitinc.com/accessories-3/ShiftIndicators_Acc-

87Warrior
I got tired of the shifter knob spinning around and falling off. I could have bought a replacement, but knowing they are constructed the same turned me away. I ended up with this solid aluminum knob made by Rampage. It is a little smaller than factory, but is rock solid and cannot fail.
FrankTheDog
1.5" dia x 2.5" long aluminum round stock with 1/4" radius on the ends is what I have on mine. Gives it a little extension and has a nice feel. Easy to make too.
